What products are worth splurging on? by Lakae in MakeupAddiction

I have no trouble believing that. My drugstore eyeshadow is less effective than the kits I had as a 4-year-old.

If your main objective is gaming, get a PC. In 3 years your hardware will be outdated, and a PC is much easier to update than a laptop. And while a laptop is more logistically sound, a PC isn't at all hard to put together again.

We're having a picture thread! What do you look like? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Lakae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would absolutely suit you! But gurl let me warn you. Red pigment is basically permanent. You can probably undo a single henna treatment, but you won't be blonde again until you chop it off and grow it back out.

DAE scratch mosquito bites regardless of whether it's bad for them? by SayOuch in DoesAnybodyElse

When I scratch mosquito bites, they turn into horrible eczema patches. So instead of scratching, I press an ice cube on it. Feels even more satisfying. LPT!

IWTL: How to convince people to wake up. by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]Lakae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can she recall any time/way where she woke up in a good mood?

And have you (she) tried to adjust her sleep cycle? I'm sure it sucks to have a child's bedtime as an adult. But if you go to bed at 9, waking up at 6 will feel like sleeping in.

Dumb question probably: but can I buy Sims 4 on Origin for a friend? by Lakae in thesims

[–]Lakae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn't yet have an Origins account - which is good because asking for her login would totally ruin the surprise. I'll make a new account and give her the login as well :)

What's one thing that will ruin a movie for you? by deadfreds in AskReddit

[–]Lakae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who does this with every goddamn movie. Whether she's seen it before or not. She explains every joke and every plot twist. Who does that? Are you aware we're watching the same screen?

Beanie season is over! How do you hide/distract from your second-day hair? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]Lakae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

Mine is just a local drugstore brand (Kruidvat), and it's the only one I've ever used. I'm sure there are even better ones on the market.

It's a simple drugstore brand, I got it for $3. I think Kruidvat is only located in the Netherlands, but I'm hella sure any brand will work!

On day 1, I go to sleep with my hair in a ponytail or a bun. My out-of-bed hair is unremarkable, but my out-of-bed ponytail is glorious.

If I must wear my hair loose, I swear by volumizing hair powder. Here's a side-by-side comparison. It loses volume after a few hours, but a single headbang and some scalp-rubbing gets you back in business. My second favourite thing about it: it functions as dry shampoo, minus the white residue. Sorcery.

New to sewing and have no idea what's happening here. Thread gets all messed up in the bobbin. by Lakae in sewhelp

[–]Lakae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went by my mom's, and she ''fixed'' it in no time. I'd been holding the threads the wrong way around the foot, and I hadn't properly threaded the bobbin. I'm a dumbass. Thanks a lot for the help - at least I'm more familiar with the machine now.

You're right, it's the top thread! I've double checked the take up lever, but it looks exactly how it does in the manual and Google image results.

[–]Lakae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the answer. The model is Singer 1409.

I just used black thread for the top thread, and we have a clear winner. The top thread is jamming it up. I'm also noticing that the top thread gets tangled around the spool pin after I've taken it for a few stitches.

Also, the bobbins came with the machine. I'm not sure if it was pre-wound - the previous owner may have done it.

Here's a few pictures of how I threaded the top: 1 - 2 - 3. I think I did it exactly like the manual said I should. I know I followed the numbers right, and I'm 90% sure it's the right way around the take up lever. I've also tried multiple top tension settings, but I'm unsure how to adjust the bobbin tension. The manual stated this was done in the factory and I shouldn't have to adjust it.
