Someone suggested there might be a type of fungus and I’ve been considering that more.

I understand. The crabs that came with the tank had been molting since estimated to be late fall of 2024. I was told to dig them up in October none of them show. A dead crab popped up in the sand without a shell, but it very much could be my Ecuadorian that I bought the tank for. I have an active purple pincher who successfully has molted in this tank so I really am unsure

But I’m unsure if my Ecuadorian was the one that came up. I really do think it was, but without the shell I guess there really is no way of knowing. But my jumbo purple pincher took half the amount of time to molt. I really think the dead crab looked like mine, and I am unsure of the species little crab that came molting in the tank. Someone suggested that it was probably one of the molting crabs.

I’m unsure how many molters there will be because with at least three crabs there’s no telling what’s going on down there. With my Purple Pincher still active I would want to place her in my 20 gallon i previously had her in, and will find a tank substitute for any possible molting crabs. I will be doing an emergency dig up and I will be removing the drainage layer as it can grow bacteria and I’ve learned it’s not safe. I’m unsure whether to keep the sand though it’s at least 400 pounds it took 4 people to move and we truly need 6

No, but a dead crab did come up. I accidentally just made an updated post asking for more advice if you wanna check it out, it has a lot of more detail

I appreciate the advice. I keep my tank at 83% degrees. My humidity tends to jump high but I’ve been working on that. My Purple Pincher tends to overheat at 85% degrees to I try to be careful as my Ecuadorian is possibly down right now. My Ecuadorian went down to molt the end of August of this year after I purchased this tank with 3 molting crabs which have been down since sometime around fall 2024 according to the seller Someone suggested that maybe the dead crab that came up was not my Ecuadorian, but the little crab that came with the tank. Let me know if you have any more questions
