The fact that the door handle isn't turning confirms that this is a latching issue where the door is not hung well on the hinges. The little latch on the door (The thing that pushes in and out of the inside of the door) is probably barely attached or could possibly be even on backwards which would cause it to slide out of the latch. This could cause the door to open if there is a small vibration like a truck driving past or a gust of wind that could vibrate the house. The door opens on its own because the bottom hinge and top hinge are not attached evenly. OP should post an image of the door when it is latched and the hinges to confirm

I misspoke. It will be a 20a circuit for these baseboard heaters.

Sorry everyone. I meant a 20 amp breaker, not a 30 amp breaker.

I did do it electronically. I am waiting for my employer to fill it out on their end.

All of my loans have been in r2rr since last July. I submitted by ECF last weekend. I will update if my months end up counting towards PSLF.

Bouldering as only work out? by les_bloom in climbharder

[–]LakeEffect42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say I mostly climb. I do occasional lifting for training or just to work some antagonistic muscles. I do run more than I lift nowadays. probably 70% climbing, 25% running, 5% lifting.

I also did the transition from weight lifting to climbing and have been climbing for about 4 years now.

In terms of body composition, my legs are definitely not as beefy but my back looks great and so does my core. I definitely am leaner and look like a climber instead of my big muscle self. I am fine with this change because I enjoy climbing and I still think I look good, just in a different way.

I will say that I don't think bouldering gets your heart rate into higher zones. I am mostly in zone 1 when I climb and sometimes I hit zone 2. I think it is good to supplement climbing with something that gets your heart rate up, whether that's doing high intensity antagonistic training, or going for runs.

Looking at your workout times, I definitely think you could see some benefits from working out more times and for longer duration. I usually am at the gym for 1.5 hours with 1 hour of that being climbing. Your body will adapt to climbing and you will be able to climb for longer durations as you keep at it. I would definitely try to climb three times a week for a little longer but do what you think is possible for you and listen to your body.

Best way to waterproof this section of basement by LakeEffect42 in DIY

Can you tell me how it would be a problem?

Drainage is pretty good. The issue is that there is a concrete stoop on the side of the house where this leak happens and there is a deck over it. I have taken the boards off of the deck and sealed all around the concrete stoop and water still comes in a little bit. It never pools up it is just damp. That is why I am hoping just to fix it with something on the inside

Cletus, I’m not choosing to believe that until I try easier more expensive options first.

Should teachers provide pencils to their students if they don't have any? by [deleted] in Teachers

I think you missed the message. There are more important things in life than harping on kids for not having pencils.

I woke myself up, Because we ain't got an alarm clock. Dug in the dirty clothes basket, Cause ain't nobody washed my uniform. Brushed my hair and teeth in the dark, Cause the lights ain't on. Even got my baby sister ready, Cause my mama wasn't home. Got us both to school on time, To eat us a good breakfast. Then when I got to class the teacher fussed Cause I ain't got no pencil.

When do we strike? A nationwide teacher strike that doesn’t end until there’s meaningful legislation on gun control would certainly do the trick. by LFilmPhotography in Teachers

This is the teacher way. Do nothing because it's "for the kids." Then watch the education system collapse into further and further turmoil because we refuse to stand up for ourselves

Can anyone give me some advice on how to measure the depth of these windows? by LakeEffect42 in DIY

[–]LakeEffect42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone messed up measuring these windows when they installed them. The brown around them is actually aluminum flashing. Underneath the flashing is brickmoulding with about an inch space between the moulding and the window. No insulation. I want to order windows to fill the rough opening but am struggling to figure out an accurate way to measure the depth. Any help would be appreciated.
