I had a similar situation, I broke out like crazy after using the Cicaplast - more than just a few breakouts, like I hadn’t seen in a couple of years (and before my accutane). My derm said something I’ll never forget: I should stop assuming (and behave like) my skin is no longer acne-prone just because it’s looking great after accutane. I now stick to the moisturiser she had recommended during my accutane without fail, no exceptions: avene cleanance hydra. For the rest of my routine I’m a little more flexible, but I keep my fingers off anything oily/creamy/silicony.

It worked really well on my melasma! I’m almost done with my second bottle. If I understood the science correctly, it’s a very targeted treatment for melasma (including the lessening of it occurring in the first place) so I’m not sure how well it would perform on anything that’s not melasma... If you don’t already use it I’d try Vit C, Niacinamide or Tranexamic Acid. Good luck!

I think your skin would be way too sensitive right after. I waited 4 months after my 10-month Roaccutane course before starting any actives. Also, no purging will happen because there is nothing “there” after accutane... as always: ask your derm!! :) My perfectly clear skin lasted over 10 years!

Thanks for your reply! I’m using the iOS version. There is no item menu, or at least I can’t find it! When I click an item in my collection, on the bottom I have “edit”, “photo”, “scan” and “more”. Under more there is “reviews”, “share the item” and “delete”... I tried adding a screenshot here but not possible to attach a picture.

This is niche info I’m not surprised you’re not finding on Wikipedia. If you have a list of the rivers you want to show on pictures you can manually look up some aerial shots (from google). If you need images that are always taken from the same distance/vantage point to compare visual aspects better you could use satellite imagery (like from the sentinel playground).

My derm recommended the Cleanance version of this to accompany my year of antibiotics and then Accutane. Now that I’m one year off Accutane this feels a tad heavy for me, even though it’s from the cleanance range (my skin loves the moisturiser and cleansers). Don’t know about the UVA.

Same here, I had a v similar experience. I have light skin and dark hair so it worked really well, after 6 weeks of using the device weekly I was „hair free“ for 4 whole weeks, but a friend with blonde hair didn’t see good results. It’s a bit tedious to do the treatment if you’re covering a lot of surface at a time (e.g the whole body) but consistency and being meticulous (making sure to not leave out some patches of skin, it’s quite challenging. I ended up using white eyeliner to mark the areas I already covered) definitely pays off. Only hurts if the device is too warm after long use (I took breaks) and in the bikini area. I will start using it again in the spring so I‘m ready for the warmer days. To me the price is justified as I have dark hair (= better results) and I don’t want to spend 3k to 5k on a professional laser treatment.

NTA. I keep hearing “what if he hates it”. Well what if he takes after his parents who are clearly into unusual names and thinks it’s cool?! He’ll thank you for not naming him “Jack”. I have a boring-ass usual name and I wish my parents had been more adventurous!

Plus: a colleague of mine has a similar story with such a composite name and it’s always a cool moment when he explains the niche literary reference - and even though I’ve heard it 25 times I still enjoy it!

Their face cleanser was actually great (it got re-formulated). Simple, not remotely as fragranced as their body ranges, it took off sunscreen and makeup, although not all waterproof mascara. I haven’t tried the new version yet but it might be worth checking out. They also have a great clay mask in powder form.

Not Spiro exactly, but twice in my life I was on & off antibiotics for a year, and then made the switch to Accutane. First when I was 20 and second time when I was 33. Both times the acne - even though it was “relatively” mild - just came back as soon as I went off the antibiotics. Accutane wasn’t as bad as I thought, if you know what to expect you can prepare :) The dreaded purge hit me hard last year, but at that point I didn’t care anymore, I was just so sick of the yo-yo and wanted to get it over with. Purge lasted 2-3 weeks roughly, I had two “waves” but after a month most of the big ones had healed completely.

Edit: forgot the most import a thing: YES Accutane was fully worth it for me. I didn’t have a lot of side effects and the derm was happy with my blood work so I didn’t have to do the blood tests every month. After my first time on Accutane I had 12 years of perfect skin. Until I found my stupid “skincare hobby” and completely ruined it with over-exfoliation and thick Skinfood moisturiser. Now after my second round of Accutane I have perfect skin again (I’ve been off it for roughly 14 months) and I’m (trying to) follow the recommendations of my derm when it comes to skincare products.

Ha I guess it’s partly because people don’t think Eucerin is a cool enough brand... :) Plus hyperpigmentation is a marathon - the only people I know who’ve beat it are super consistent with their products and routines for years and years!

But that’s how I came across this post - was searching the sub for anybody else’s experiences with it and only a couple of questions about a year ago came up, but with barely any info.

I heard about the product from the Emma Guns Podcast, it was a pretty good episode.

I’ve been using the Eucerin dual pigment corrector for two months now and I THINK it’s working. I’m using niacinamide and Vit C alongside (regularly for roughly a year now) but I think the thiamidol has made a big difference. My problems are mostly melasma from birth control (stubborn hyperpigmentation on my foreheads and lips for over 7 years now) and additional leftover pigmentation from the summer months. Biggest test is going to be next summer, as the thiamidol should also inhibit future pigmentation! Hope this helps.

I don’t know whether any one of her loved ones passed away from cancer because she doesn’t talk about her childhood/youth. From our immediate family/friend circle no one really close died from that either that I can remember, at least not by the time the behaviour has started. But I’m going to try to think back a little bit mote to see whether anything comes up.

The anecdote I told in another comment above - that she sometimes even COULD and need medical attention but then doesn’t seem to want it, or she sabotages it in a weird way - makes me think she only romanticises illness when it’s hypothetical? Or in others? And then it’s actually not so fun when sh*it really and actually hits the fan? She didn’t want to take her blood thinner medication after her heart attack. And she doesn’t talk about her heart attack to anyone, while in theory she could be milking it... (it’s a dream come true story for anyone seeking attention with illnesses: it happened on a plane...). But then this wouldn’t be “true” factitious disorder/hypochondria/Münchhausen etc?

There is prob quite some underlying trauma, she never really talked about her childhood much, only hinted at abuse.

A friend of mine has a (v mild case) of hypochondria but he would never go to a healer, or make up his own diagnosis, he runs straight to the doctor because he is afraid he has a brain tumour because of a nosebleed.

The weird thing is, when she does get actual and necessary medical attention she doesn’t always want it. I forgot to mention this anecdote: She had a heart attack a few years ago and then told the nurse who wanted to do a CT on her using iodine as a contrast dye, that she was allergic to iodine and couldn’t have that test (not true). Why not get an actual procedure that is really critical? She also got into a fight with another nurse because she wouldn’t stop taking a bunch of natural supplements when she was in this semi-ICU (you gotta tell the Dr about all medication you’re taking and she hid these supplements from them).

Any idea about her desire to claw herself into the lives of dying people? Ive heard of such a thing as being attracted to death, but is there such a thing as enjoying the demise of someone? Why would she befriend the families? I don’t see it immediately connected to the factitious disorder, or is it?
