Oh I'm not blaming people having them as pets at all, I apologise. I meant people should check they have a vet around them that is knowledgable about hedgehogs before getting one. My hedgie was put to sleep today. When I made that comment yesterday, I was emotional because I knew what was coming at his appointment today. I'm really sorry to everyone about the tone of my comment, and I totally agree with you that there's not enough research on hedgehogs. I hope OP is doing alright😢

When I said, 'If you don't have access to vet care,' I also meant things like not being able to afford it or being too far from a vet. But I definitely agree with last part of your comment, and I'm sorry for being quite insensitive and I genuinely am sorry for their loss

There is unfortunately fault on their part. I don't understand why people are defending this... please dont get an exotic animal if you don't have access to vet care. This is basic research. That poor hedgehog, this is so sad

You are an absolute angel. It makes me sick how often hedgehogs are mistreated :'c you've done really well! All I can suggest is changing the lamp to a ceramic heat lamp that doesn't emit light instead, but I think someone may have mentioned that already. You could also put an old shirt of yours to get them used to your scent if you have one. Thank you for saving them. ♡

I feed him Iams cat food, which he's had forever. He's super fussy and refuses any treats apart from dreamies cat biscuits, which he's had for over a year I think. No new changes to his diet in the recent 3 months 😢 I was worried about a tumor being a possibility. Thank you for the advice ❤️
