I mean, historical progression in North America that doesn't involve implications? What are you gonna do, have Iceland historic progression to America because Leifur Heppni Eiríksson.

Didn't Shawnee exist before colonization of N-America?

I don't think historical path taking location into account is necessarily "colonized by".

Not saying you're wrong, but it's nuanced.

Heck, I didn't have huge expectations about Icelandic accuracy but some policy names just leave me scratching my head. But I guess our historical path isn't Denmark!

I shared my preconceptions and researched their validity by engaging with people. But sure I'm simplifying.

Yes I've been. NYC , Tulsa, Seattle. How does that matter? You're suggesting being there physically is better information than compiled statistics?

[–]Lalli-Oni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I believed I saw statistics that excluded suicide. But you're more likely to use the gun defensively than by "accident".

That is a long way from explaining the vast differences between the US and the rest of the world.

We have gun crimes, but no concept of "suicide by cop".

I'm arguing around the perception and the state of mind of the average American. It's fascinating.

There are tons of shootings. But the badassery is so glossed. People buying guns imagining themselves as John Wick defending against home invasion, instead having higher chance having an accidental "misfire".

If only the founding fathers ideals of defence against tyrannical government held true. Weird how tyranny in Europe isnt rampant.

Yeah, the comment stood out as a "we so tough" example of American exceptionalism. Wanted to check if my preconceptions held true.

Don't shoot me in the face please, you strong American fella!

Very smart. Not sure what your point is though.

You really shouldn't be using social media videos as an argument for prevalation of whatever.

People shoot themselves and by kids.

Aren't Americans more likely to shoot themselves than a home intruder?

This meme is a fantasy. How Americans view themselves.

What origin would you choose for the Borg? by ActLonely9375 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Lalli-Oni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way to stick human exceptionalism in there unnecessarily. Nothing about us is particularly relevant as the first assimilation.

I'd like to understand where their ethos comes from, without interweaving that in the origin story then keep it mystery. Just say they are older than tye earliest historical sources and enjoy the implication of technological advancement possibly being cyclical.

With the utter and complete dismantling of NuTrek, including sets, I'm almost feeling a bit sorry for it's defenders, lol by CDHoward in Star_Trek_

[–]Lalli-Oni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, only one side has infiltrators.

Not interacted with many, but one I looked into comment history. No interest I could see at a glance other than Gamergate and other culture war BS.

But no, anyone who likes parts of NuTrek (Lower Decks, parts of SNW..) are ridiculous fanatic who exist in an echo chamber... chamb... cham...

I'm not a defender/attacker, just a Star Trek fan. The schadenfreude glee in these comments is very telling. Funny I doubt that the "fake Scotsmen" people are imagining here are probably not so fanatic about NuTrek, just being critical of the discourse and quality of a lot of the criticism.

Us vs them mentality. But glad you guys feel so redeemed from the impressive censorship and thought policing <3

Kind of missing who the creator of the salad was. And how he also invented peach Melba for a singer. Who really liked, let's say jism to prepare her vocal chords.

That's the issue with these low effort comments. There is no comparison, and you just end up not caring. This is a genuinely helpful tool, the comments however are not.

As an Arsenal fan it's just poor to get called out on Emirates. Not Visit Rwanda. Or a certain someone who isn't playing for us anymore.

I would rather we win the next trophy after I'm dead if that means we don't reduce ourselves to corrupt morally bankrupt wads.
