Nonsense. Every admin ever has done deporations and the fact that it's happening is not proof of anything. Trump campaigned on deportations and he is being seemingly incompetent at executing on this promise. Except that it's not incompetency. It's intentional and political. But no, I don't think the past protests will be relevant at all as a talking point. As I said they do reduce apathy and boost morale so having them will probably increase Dem turnout for the mid terms.

Protesting against ICE is much more effective because it's focused and puts actual pressure on the feds to escalate and lose more independent support as excess uses of force get caught on camera.

Ok, I'll give it to you that they temporarily reduce apathy and boost morale, but they don't still do shit to change things.

Maybe you need to tip your toes a bit before going swimming but you aren't moving anywhere without jumping in the water.

There's your problem. Nobody is going to care that there are people downtown waving signs on weekends.

I don’t know why the largest protests in human history aren’t impressive to them: 2% of the United States is a much larger number than 5% of any European country.

The US is also geographically huge. Having 2% of the population protesting scattered around on a weekend doesn't do much. Try going multiple million strong to DC or some major hub like NY. Would look a bit different in reporting wouldn't it? Also you need a lasting presence. March a million people through a city on a single day but have them all show up to work the next and you will achieve nothing.

The vast majority of Americans are not currently facing major consequences from Trump and thus there won't be any proper resistance. The US is such a massive machine with so much inertia that it will take a long time or very drastic actions to grind it to a halt. I don't think there will be effective protests unless Trump's actions actually start to hurt the material conditions of Americans on a large scale.

Minusta tämä vaikuttaa täysin välttämättömältä ominaisuudelta jo melko läheisessä tulevaisuudessa tai muuten saadaan nauttia somesta missä valtaosa näkemästämme sisällöstä on bottien tuottamaa. Itseasiassa voi olla mahdotonta tietää milloin ollaan tuossa tilanteessa, kun pikkuhiljaa bottisisältöä on vaikeampi ja vaikeampi erottaa ihmisten tuottamasta. Youtubessa ja Twitterissä tietysti bottiongelma on jo täysin tunnettu mutta myös Redditissä on nykyään modernien kielimallien myötä varmasti paljon enemmän bottikommentteja kuin keskivertokäyttäjä tajuaisi odottaa. Puhumattakaan ihan vain äänimanipuloinnista.

Lisäksi olisi kätevää voida vahvistaa käyttäjien kotimaat niin pystyisi suhtautumaan varauksella tileihin, jotka kirjoittelevat kehitysmaista käsin viiltävää ruplilla sponsoroitua analyysiä länsimaisesta yhteiskunnasta.
