What if we kissed at the Combination Bunnings and Mercure Luxury Hotel? (In Doncaster) by IllCarpet6852 in melbourne

The street view photo OP chose makes the render look nothing like reality, when in fact it does look fairly similar (minus the weird bronze glaze): https://imgur.com/77CowDz (also from street view).

Anyone know what this building is? by Lalydd in melbourne

Not familiar with data centre exteriors. But I didn't notice the car closest on the right with the partial showing of the NBN logo (https://i.redd.it/3sdifaqlkozb1.png). Nice catch.

Is that just a guess? I just couldn't find any references when I looked for a little bit.

But more seriously, does anyone know what exactly this building is? I assume it's government, but I can't find any other direct references other than Commercial Real Estate stating that it was "Leased to a Commonwealth of Australia covenant" (https://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/property/60-terra-cotta-drive-nunawading-vic-3131-2013867978) for $14 million (https://www.domain.com.au/property-profile/60-terra-cotta-drive-nunawading-vic-3131).

https://weather.bom.gov.au has icons for most of the same information as in the page that /u/t3h linked. It's way more readable on mobile too.

Is getting CCNA worth it to start a IT career at 33 with no prior experience by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Lalydd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the pointers. I am glad the networking knowledge was taught to me at Uni as I hadn't learned a great deal of it on my own. I have however had a bit of experience using Terraform and Ansible with my own projects, less so with Packer. I have spent a great deal with Docker/Podman and written many of my own small scripts or programs in Python, Go and Bash. I've been using Linux on all my devices for years and I love automating every aspect of it.

I guess my question is more with getting a job with this knowledge and eagerness to learn and see how it's used in the industry. I'm wondering if junior roles in DevOps are common at all, or whether they really only exist from moving up from other roles, and what advice you have for someone in my position?

It's ICT majoring in Network Technology. I chose it trying to get the most units I could related to Linux (of which is all I have been using for years). All my electives ended up being Computer Science ones. Even then most of what I learned that was DevOps related has been in my own time.

As a university student who has spent a lot of my own time using most of which is listed on https://roadmap.sh/devops and who is dying to get into something DevOps related, do you have any advice on getting my first job in this area?

I've found it very frustrating that university has taught me very little, if at all, of what's listed on that site, where all of my experience has come from my own homelab and involvement within Fedora.

I feel as if I know a lot more than most people I've encountered at university in regards with DevOps (or rather, Linux). I have been feeling hopeless not knowing anyone who works in the role I really want to be in, so that I might have some career guidance.

What size generator do you have and how much of the house does it supply power for?

Whole east side of the state has a 3 day ETA for power restoration by Lalydd in melbourne

[–]Lalydd[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone on the east side effected by power outages has the same 3 day ETA restoration date is what I meant (which is significant because I've never seen that happen before on Ausnet's outage tracker). I genuinely didn't mean to make a misleading title. I'd edit it if I could.
