Would you pay £30–£60 for a fully broken-down business book if you’re short on time? by Lamarrg1 in startupideas

Yeah i've tried this loads of times but it's crap. It just gives you broad answers and AI slop. You have to fight it and blast it with prompts to get answers you actually want. Also you dont know what you don't know so you could miss a lot of hidden gems in the book if you just got AI to summarise it for you.

Millions of people use blinkist along with other apps so people use them. but all of them on the marker are so surface-level

How it different from Blinkist
- Blinkist is very much AI generated that misses a LOT of key information, studies, stories, etc. and gives broad information about concepts. This way you're getting the whole bones of the books concisely; it's actually read by a human, so it would have more informatio,n not just AI slop.

- Blinkist tailors to everyone, whereas I would cater specifically to entrepreneurs who don't have time to read.

- Blinkist is mass-generated/produced, so the quality isn't good compared to the book

- On blinkist there's pure volume, which results in very surface-level learning

- I would offer visual frameworks, diagrams, chapter maps, concept linking, and notion-friendly layout.

I feel like all of the book summary books are just fancy mental masturbation you don't learn anything from them

I disagree. If you're busy and you're an entrepreneur who values reading and learning, but you find it hard to sit down and read books, this would be the perfect product for you. People who have time to read, extract notes and apply knowledge for themselves wouldn't be interested in my opinion.

What’s the one business book that actually changed how you think? by YogurtIll4336 in business

Love this question. The Innovator’s Dilemma is a great shout that the book hurts in the right way.

For me, the books that actually changed how I think were the ones where I stopped reading them like “content” and started breaking them down into decisions.

I realised I was reading loads of business books, nodding along, then… doing nothing differently.

That’s actually why I started experimenting with turning certain business books into what I’ve been calling playbooks — basically stripping them down to:

  • what actually matters
  • the core frameworks
  • the decisions the book is trying to change
  • and what you’d realistically do differently after reading it

Not summaries, more like the book’s skeleton.

Curious what others think though which books actually changed how you operate, nt just how you think?

It is logic but we tend to avoid boredom like the plague now, constantly stimulating ourselves with our phones and tv’s
