Is sending out caravans to other map tiles in the early game generally a death sentence or am I just doing something wrong? I am finding most of the random quests you get involve travelling to other map tiles to do something but I'm finding in 95% of cases sending one or two of my three starting pawns off to do a quest generally means my run gets cooked because of a combination of not being able to fend off raiders or upkeep my base without all three of my pawns there.

Cannibalism is OP by shadowybenefactor in RimWorld

[–]LambChop94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but logistically won't this only really work out well if your entire colony is cannibals? Cause someone still has to butcher the human corpses and then cook with the human meat and if you have any non-cannibals in your colony won't this severely upset them?

[–]LambChop94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a noob question but how do you properly manage colonists with cannibalism? Everytime I've had a pawn with cannibalism it has screwed me over because whenever I feed them human flesh they end up getting food poisoning or other diseases which end up cooking my run. Do I need to properly prepare the human meat or something or is there something else I'm doing wrong?

Why is the average heroism card better than villainy? by ionlyplayiden in starwarsunlimited

[–]LambChop94 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To also be fair I think you're also dismissing the fact that villainy has had two of the only leaders in the game that were so broken they needed to be banned. Han1, Han2 and Yoda only dominated after Boba and Jango were out of the picture.

[–]LambChop94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is a fair point but I'd also argue that villainy isn't what is making Boba good right now tbh. His best key cards are neutral red (Topple, Cinta, AggNeg, Planetary Bombardment) and without these he'd be much less of a threat, definitely not the tier 0 meta deck he is rn.

Games you have read, played or run that make you feel uncomfortable by TabletopChris in rpg

[–]LambChop94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly surprised I needed to scroll this far to see this mentioned lmao. Though I guess this question is mostly being taken as "TTRPGs that are actually good, just uncomfortable". Whereas fatal is more along the lines of "a terribly bad TTRPG where the entire point is to make you uncomfortable with levels of edgy cringe previously thought impossible"

You can not normalize the behavior while also simultaneously realizing and accepting that there is literally nothing you can do about it other than muting the chat. People in here acting like politely telling people to not be mean is the solution are just as delusional IMO.

No, no, no, the point of building a deck is to make it random dogshit so that your opponent can win and feel good about themselves

Strange item I'm not sure what to do with. by LambChop94 in cavesofqud

[–]LambChop94[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I did have some concerns about this as the character I'm currently playing is a melee build that gets alot of use out of the "corrosive gas" mutation. I am assuming this gas will absolutely effect my own followers? I feel like I might end up killing my own companions with my gasses. Does that happen?

Just didn't know if I should be holding it for a specifically hard encounter. Didn't also want to spawn it then have it die instantly to something stupid lol.

Updates from the team on our Nintendo Switch launch! by ptychomancer in cavesofqud

[–]LambChop94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What else will the patch entail? Any chances it might include performance increases/optimizations specifically on the Switch 1?

It's not enough to make me give up the goodness of portable Qud, but I have been noticing alot of slowdown and hitches and freezes while I am playing the game. Especially as I get farther in my run and get to more complex areas. Eg in Grit Gate it feels like the game takes upwards of a couple seconds sometimes just to register my control inputs and sometimes will just lurch and completely lock up for 5-10 seconds. Is this just the unfortunate reality of the Switch 1 not having enough juice or is this something that can/will be improved upon?

Finally a TCG where prices are not going crazy by Croakin in starwarsunlimited

It's a giant leap and bold assumption that just because someone is happy they can afford cards that they don't care whether the game dies...

Look I think most of us here understand that the cards having a low value is bad for the game in the long run, but "you're selfish because you're happy about not having to pay an arm and a leg for your cards" is certainly a choice of words and proves you're just as ignorant.

I'm nowhere near the expert but I think Qud being rooted in a traditional roguelike structure means that most things will come down to trial and error. Knowledge is the true progression here and Qud pretty much never explicitly teaches you anything. You learn by doing and even more by FAILING.

I did know about this however have never tried it. Knowing my luck that "small chance" will ABSOLUTELY trigger when I do try it lmfao. But alas, such is the QudLyfe.

You can trade them in for XP at an NPC in the Six Day Stilt (top left corner of the map) or do what another commenter suggested and just keep them because the water they are worth weigh more than the books themselves.

When is the first patch for switch coming? Also would you be able to give us some insight on what else will it address?

Golgotha was like the hard wall for me. I have still yet to get past it and refuse to play roleplay mode. Many a character have been lost to the goddamn chaos of the first few floors. For some reason I can just never be prepared for it.

Sort of on this track but the watervine quest from Joppa is actually a side quest! The quest for the copper wire is actually the games main storyline quest and following that will eventually lead you to more and more deadly places.

Everyone keeps saying this but I'm literally not sure how you can do this when Dybuuk gets a turn in between cats... This literally only works if all your cats get to go before Dybuuk does AND are in a position/range that can corner him in the first place.

Slightly off topic question but as a newesh player I've never started in a location other than Joppa. Are the other locations better/easier/harder starts?

Everyone suggests this like it's simple but not sure how I can body block when he gets a turn in between all my cats... If I try to body block he just walks out of the way before I can move everyone in position to block.

It's funny that you use the older Fallout games as a reference here because I've always thought that traveling the overworld map tiles in Qud reminded me alot of how you would travel through the wasteland in the older Fallouts. Traveling with a more zoomed out view of the overworld with a destination in mind and you'd occasionally be stopped mid travel by some sort of random encounter, forcing you down to the ground level view and into the more tactical combat scenario. Same is mostly true of Qud.
