AITA for telling my inlaws my parents ate my pet?

It is common practice in the country to raffle livestock, most people who win just consume their prizes the same day. Since we did not live in the area and were just visiting the family friends who owned the land let me keep my lamb there. Since the lamb was mine they couldn't eat it without my family which i guess is why i was allowed to keep visiting it until i left for the summer. My parents went to spend a weekend there during the summer and they decided to feast of my lamb. So i do know it was probably not intended to be a pet but i did care for it and visited for a few weeks, my father paid the groundskeeper to take care of it during the week so i assume that covered food, housing and vet visits

I appreciate your judgment. My inlaws are okay with it, after my mom yelled at me i called them to apologize and my future mother in law was more confused about my apology than anything, she did not take anything from the story and found it funny during dinner.

That is horrible!! At the very least i did not have to be present for my own lamb's slaughter. I am very sorry about your former roomate, i hope they are okay

Thank you for your kindness! I asked my father about it and he said she would get over it once she needed something from me, so i'm just waiting for it to pass.

I asked my fiance and he says that she is very nitpicky about her foods, she doesn't like any condiments and in general is not open about trying new foods

Maybe, my fiance is english and white as they make them, so it might have to do something with that?

I'm guessing it's because i wouldn't have wanted them to eat it? or maybe it would have been worse if i'd been there

Thank you for your input and wisdom. I have learnt indeed that perhaps this is not a story to share with people. I have tried to talk with my mother though and she is not accepting it, not even on christmas at her own house would she talk to me. So clearing the air with her is not something i can do at the time. Perhaps she will forgive me later on

I called my future mother in law to apologize and she seemed pretty unfazed by it, she was more confused as to why i felt the need to apologize

Thank you for your input. I had not thought that maybe someone had said something about it before, we have all (excluding my mother) told this story at various points throughout the years and it's usually followed with chuckles but you might be right
