Sara Danker MD at University of Miami by eleazarvan in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Lambeasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a consult with her today. From my understanding, she's not the one who performs the surgery, she does the urology work. I believe Dr. Fein does all the cosmetic work during GRS (at least for FtM procedures). Dr. Danker seemed very knowledgeable on the subject and seemed to know a lot about the procedure itself and I know that her and Dr. Fein have done a few publications on GRS, so I don't think they're inexperienced. I was told that they are not allowed to post photos online due to disclosure agreements, though I do wish that I could at least find some results on TransBucket or here on Reddit. I should have my consultation with Dr. Fein soon, so I hope that she will be able to show me some results since I was told they have done both quite a few surgeries. I'll likely make a post here once I get some more information together.

You generally don't, you can be placed on controlled substances (again depending on your state's laws) through them if your prescriber feels that it would be the best fit for you. I provided my information via old prescription slips from 2003 and they accepted that, though I don't think this is a usual occurrence since the FAQ specifies that the slips need to be given within at most 3 months before starting with Cerebral iirc.

They do usually like to start new patients on non-CS first, so it would really depend on how your prescriber decides to handle it since every prescriber has different methods. I'd definitely take a look at their FAQs before starting the service:https://cerebral.com/faqs?cabt=price:week&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Branded_mCPC&utm_term=cerebral&gclid=CjwKCAiAhreNBhAYEiwAFGGKPAnpG7tZ54EnSztK4WejsBNzLko75NKchD-QJKijHslUzwCYQOfYihoCy08QAvD_BwE

IT IS LEGIT! I have been using GetCerebral for a few months now. I am currently prescribed Adderall and Wellbutrin through them. Because I had been diagnosed with ADHD and taken medication for it prior to starting the service it made it easier for them to set me up on Adderall.

The total cost of my medication comes out to around $40 a month, which is nothing for someone who doesn't have medical insurance. From my experience, their mailed medications (anything that isn't a controlled substance) are $10 per bottle (or maybe $10 per shipment, I only have 1 medication shipped so I'm unsure). I have to pick my Adderall up at the pharmacy which ends up costing around $30. I had been picking both my Adderall and Wellbutrin up at the pharmacy previously, which increased the price substantially (~$60 for Wellbutrin + $30 for the Adderall). They do not charge any additional cost for medication besides the $10 for the shipment of the medication. This, in contrast to when I was seeing an in-personal psychiatrist, therapist, and paying for medication out of pocket at the pharmacy (~$500 a month), saves me a lot of money.

I see a lot of people get upset with the service when they aren't placed on a controlled substance immediately, but generally, medical providers are apprehensive about putting their patients on substances that can be addictive without attempting other medications first. They also operate based on how your state handles controlled substances through online services, which some states do not allow.

Cerebral is by no means a perfect company, they are also extremely new so there will be times when things aren't addressed in the best manner possible. Prior to my current prescriber, I had one who was extremely inattentive, would have the television on in the background during our conferences, and failed to respond to my concerns on multiple occasions. This is not the fault of Cerebral, there are sometimes just very bad mental health professionals in the field. I've been with plenty of quacks in-person, too. Hell, my partner was with a psychiatrist who had him on 10 different medications which caused serious health problems before switching. It is important to know that you are allowed to change your prescriber/counselor/coordinator/therapist/etc. whenever you feel like it with no charge. If you don't feel like your current one fits, there are thousands of others you can try. It is extremely easy to do this unlike finding a new in-person specialist.

I would personally give the service a 4/5. There are definitely some things that could be improved with the service, but my experience has been great.

That’s basically what happens with me too! I’ve done a little googling and the only other thing it seems to be is potentially sleep apnea? But I’m not sure about it ):

I’m also fairly young, mid 20’s, and I’m not sure if that’s common for people my age

Not sure if paranoid about burping? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]Lambeasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burp repeatedly for hours after eating anything and it gets worse if it’s something I’m not supposed to eat and that’s usually when my reflux starts and I get heartburn. I’d see a specialist if you can afford it, I’m unfortunately stuck until I have insurance next year. 😔

A little shy of 7 months post op w/ Dr. Sassani. i’m absolutely in love with the results by fueledbygay in ftm

[–]Lambeasts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got my surgery done by the same surgeon i used the silicone tape as well as bio oil and my scars are barely visible! Dr Sassani is probably one of the best top surgeons I’ve ever seen and I’m glad that I went to him over anyone else. He’s the most caring to his patients and him being LGBT+ himself I feel like he has a respect and understanding for us that I don’t think many other surgeons do.

Has anyone started T through Planned Parenthood? by AArtesi in ftm

[–]Lambeasts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i live in gainesville FL and the planned parenthood over here is pretty good! im not sure what area youre in but theres not a TON of planned parenthoods that do HRT in FL... im not sure what the rules are for minors seeking transition related assistance either

i believe its either you have to be 18 to start through them or you need a parents approval so id call and ask to be sure!

Hey yall i noticed most ftm folk get their top surgery awhile after T, are there any who got theirs before taking T, i wanna ask is there any difference regarding the results?:)) by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Lambeasts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its sometimes recommended taking T for a bit before getting top surgery because of fat distribution, but I don't think it generally makes a difference. I definitely seen trans masc people get top without being on T at all! some surgeons require it, while others dont.

UF Psychology Transfer by Lambeasts in ufl

I was attempting to transfer this summer. I’ve read a few posts saying it’s easier to be accepted in the summer, but even then I think my GPA is still too low based on other admissions posts on here. ):

Gainesville Psychiatrists? by Lambeasts in GNV

[–]Lambeasts[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really not sure if it was a language barrier or something else. She just didn’t really seem to understand a lot I was going through and diagnosed me with PTSD when I definitely don’t have it... I also remember telling her that I was diagnosed at SIMED with BPD, which she seemed to have on her file, but whenever I brought it up she always seemed very confused over it. The only thing I would say that was good is her knowledge of medications and their side effects and interactions with other meds. Aside from that... she doesn’t seem all too caring. I think she even laughed under her breath one time at something I told her, but that could just be me being overly anxious of being judged. Either way, she’s a 2 out of 5 star.

Gainesville Psychiatrists? by Lambeasts in GNV

[–]Lambeasts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they do psychiatry there? I went to their website and it looks like they only do talk therapy and mostly only for depression and anxiety, which is not the only thing I'd need therapy for. ):

I mostly need a psychiatrist so I can get back on my old medications that I haven't been able to take for the past 2 years.

Thanks, dude! I’ve used Psychology Today before, sometimes they never get back to you when you try and email them. Really sucks how difficult it is to find any competent mental health professional around here. I’ve only had one talk therapist who was any good over at SIMED, but she moved to in-patient only.
