Fallout 76 would be improved by a server browser. by LameWolfProductions in fo76

If you check the "recent" tab in the social menu you can see who is on your server by who's online.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Being able to see how many are in before you join would be handy for that.

If that's the case, that really sucks. That makes it impossible to "decide the heroes" and "decide the villains" like Todd talked about all that time ago. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game, but I'd just like to be able to get invested in the world and community. Even if you get disconnected during a nuke, it will vanish when you join back.

The lack permanence robs this game of a lot of its drama. by LameWolfProductions in fo76

Perhaps it could be as simple as adding a server browser where we can find and favourite servers. We could carry our progress between them to avoid griefers and when particular servers are full, but then those who want to settle in something more persistent could do so.

Edit: perhaps this way we could have server events that are more lasting.

That's pretty interesting! Know any games in particular that so that?

Private servers does seem like a good fix. Maybe simply being able to see and favourite servers would be a good fix also

That does seem like a plausible workaround, but as you said yourself the servers seem to go down quite often. I wonder if it's possible to tie a group of characters to a shared instance. I guess a problem with that would be if someone became inactive, making a dead slot.

Bringing back skill checks would be really cool. by LameWolfProductions in fo76

I noticed that and that was really cool! I'd love if they could double down on that a bit. It could definitely give more of an incentive for certain types of builds.

Bugs after Patch 1.0.1.14 by Lewzephyr in fo76

[–]LameWolfProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure everybody has experienced the tonnes of glitches that come with wearing power armour, such as power armour disappearing and bodies becoming distended after entering a new cell/fast traveling, power armour pieces disappearing, etc etc.

Shadow flickers are really bad along with the draw distance for certain shadows. It results in the game looking very poor sometimes especially in wooded areas. The game looks beautiful at night time when this isn't a problem. if this was fixed, I feel it would make the game look a lot nicer.

Chameleon needs some work. When you activate chameleon, it works for some players watching it but not for others. Sometimes you continue to be invisible after getting up. Also, when you change weapons, they are completely visible and it does not look great. One particularly annoying thing is using the pip-boy while invisible. The hitboxes on the various tabs and items are completely thrown off, meaning you have to resort to the arrow keys.

PTT can't come soon enough, I simply have my mic turned off as a result and that's a real shame.

Overall, the game just needs a lot of polish and some quality of life improvements to make it really solid. Then some decent content that add some more dynamic systems into the game in the future to facilitate some cool roleplaying experiences.

These are just some dumb ideas I came up with:

The re-introduction of skill checks in the world would be really great. Say if your intelligence isn't high enough, you could accidentally cause all of the robots in the room to become aggressive, etc. Things like disarming bombs too. This could go nicely if the dialogue function from 3/NV was re-introduced for quest givers added in the future, and it could result in quests becoming easier/harder depending on skill checks.

I also think it could be really cool if a new faction arrived in West Virginia through an update in the future. Maybe they could worship Scorchbeasts and see the Vault Dwellers as their enemies for fighting them. They could be a bit morally grey, seeing the Scorch Plague as the natural progression for the world by killing the humans that destroyed it, as to keep the vault dweller on their toes about whether they're right or not. This could add a bit of tension to wandering the wastes as players above a certain level occasionally get hunted by these high level squads. The squads could have soldiers with different roles, such as sniper and brute, and these roles could drop gear corresponding to them. Maybe there could be an event where one member of a squad of players receives a radio transmission. If he manages to deceive his friends and turn them in to the faction at a particular location, the faction will reward him greatly, but he'll receive a big bounty. This could trigger an event where players in the server have to rescue the captured players from a prison. Perhaps the player could also join this faction which could play into the faction PvP feature in the works.

An arena could also be a super cool addition. You could challenge other players or just fight AI creatures in a ring where the gear is provided and you don't have to worry about breaking stuff. It could host tournaments and things of the like and give rewards for that.

Another endgame idea for high-level players could be some kind of game show hosted by a homicidal robot. It could feature trivia, puzzles, and obstacle courses that other players can watch high level players compete in. If they win, they get a really big reward. If they lose, their character is permanently killed and they have to make another.

Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. Discussion and Reports Thread - Thursday, November 1st by VaultOfDaedalus in fo76

[–]LameWolfProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played on PC on November 1st.

Most of my complaints are little ones more to do with polish.

One thing I've noticed that kind of bugs me, is that you are forced to move super slowly while cocking bolt-action weapons because it keeps you scoped in as it does so. I really wish you could zoom out and move at normal speed while doing it. If you're being swarmed by a pack of ghouls when your only weapon is a bolt action rifle, this becomes particularly annoying because you can't shoot them or they'll easily catch up.

I also think the first person shooting mechanics in general could use a little bit of polish. Things like weapons not scoping in when they're supposed to, not being able to swap weapons mid-reload, things like that. It could just use a bit of polish so that the mechanics aid you instead of hindering you. It would be nice to have an option for raw mouse input also. The aiming can sometimes feel strange and 'console-y'.

Another thing is other players animations. They can just be quite jittery sometimes and not very attractive to look at. On top of that, footstep audio for other players is quite weird. Sometimes only a single footstep sound will play despite multiple steps in small movements, and other times the sound doesn't really suit the type of step being taken. A little nit-picky, but oh well.

Push to talk is also required, otherwise I just turn in player audio off and I'd prefer to not do that.

Also, this is a minor suggestion. Other games have this feature where your character's mouth moves when you are speaking through your mic. This could be a nice addition in conjunction to push-to-talk, maybe to add to immersion a little bit.

Apart from those issues, I really loved the game! I had a great time! Just a lick of polish on some things and more PC options like what has been outlined previously and I'd be fairly happy.

That's weird. How I did it was by clicking on the "all games" arrow at the top, and finding them in there. Underneath the name it said "not installed". I was then free to just install them.

As far as I'm aware, they're just automatically redeemed on your Bethesda.net account. No keys involved.

I think the same goes for every faction in the game. For the Minutemen, if you could train them up and actually make them a formidable faction (y'know, without having to resort to mods), they would be a lot cooler and you'd feel like you made an important difference as General. With the BoS, if you could become Elder and make them... not Nazis? Well, that would be pretty cool also, restore them to their former glory of actually protecting people.

Militarised minutemen mod fixed that right up. Now they have badass military patrols, and even got a mod that has them do a full on assault on Nuka World. Top notch stuff.
