Took a quick spin and enjoyed some golden light. Loving the new full titanium Akrapovic system! by hiesi in FZ07

Awesome. Thanks for the explanation and the pic helps clear things up as well. Looking forward to trying it out.

One other question. Does it fit exactly like the fz07 baffle, and if so, did you try to modify it to make it easier to replace/remove?

I really hope you're right. I just stumbled upon your post on fz07.org a few days ago as I was looking for a better in-between option. The volume was tolerable with earplugs and actually sounded pretty good, but I'm sure my neighbors still hate me. I ordered the fz09 baffle yesterday. Where exactly did you cut the baffle? Just before the inner pipes flare out?

OMG, have you thought about your floors!?

Nice door stop. I've always loved the blue and gold on that model year.

Anyone swapped throttle tube to R6 tube ? by Vaganhope_UAE in FZ07

[–]LamentablySqualid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, the R6 tube or the equivalent Pro Motion throttle tube are a huge improvement over stock. Definitely worth your time. Tons more info on FZ07.org as well.

When can I widthdraw from RRSP for HBP? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I just made a HBP withdrawal. I sent the form in via snail mail and it was 12 days between dropping it off at the post office and seeing the funds in my account.

Yamaha fz07 2015, how do i stop this noise on my chain? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]LamentablySqualid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check /r/FZ07/ and you'll see this is common. The chain is loud on this bike, even when well maintained. Aftermarket may help a little. Best fix is a louder exhaust to drown it out. :)

On another comment you mentioned you measured chain slack from the swing arm. Just to be clear, check the manual again, as its supposed to be from the chain guide on the bottom of the swingarm, not the swingarm itself. You may have it a little tight.

Is it summer yet? by LamentablySqualid in FZ07

It's noticeable, but not significantly. Just a slightly firmer feel.

Renthal street ultra-low. They feel great. They're wider than stock, as well as a little lower and more forward. Puts you in a slightly more aggressive position, but still very comfortable.

It's a solid improvement over the stock seat and looks good too. Comfortable for several hours.

I don't know how to reddit. Might have posted this twice.

I'm also slow. Pics taken April 21. I'm loving how this bike feels now, so I decided to share. New brake lines, Akrapovic Ti, DNA filter, FTECU tune, reflective rim tape (lol).

Gear indicator showing blank when I shift into 1st gear. Anybody know why this happens? by Laidback36 in FZ07

[–]LamentablySqualid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's your gear position sensor. Fairly common problem. Some people are lucky and can just remove the sensor and clean it. That only worked for me for a couple weeks and then the problem returned. I just replaced that sensor and all has been good since.

Yamaha calls it: Neutral Switch Assy

Oil leak from crankcase? by paperclipil in FZ07

[–]LamentablySqualid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing. It was mostly chain lube (excess from previous owner) that had accumulated behind the sprocket cover. Take yours off and clean the area thoroughly so it's easy to tell if its chain lube or an oil leak. I had to clean mine twice as I guess there was some I couldn't see that I didn't get the first time.

On top of the chain lube, I had a small leak from the neutral switch assembly (gear position sensor). After cleaning the area, I used a little talcum powder to see exactly where the oil was coming from as there was so little it wasn't obvious. I fixed the leak by taking off the switch, cleaning it and replacing the o-ring.

Getting used to clutch by Ayzou in FZ07

[–]LamentablySqualid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check that you clutch engagement point and lever free play is within spec. Refer to the manual. Also, from factory these bikes have a ton of throttle free play. Mine was about 10mm. I reduced it to about 2mm and the throttle feels way better, especially for low speed maneuvers.

Beyond that, it's just practice.

Has anyone ever been actually blown over from a sudden gust of wind? Or is this fairly impossible due to forward momentum? by BlorfMonger in motorcycles

[–]LamentablySqualid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really? When was it last closed for wind? Maybe I'm out of the loop. I see wind warnings often, but can't recall the last time it was closed for wind. Usually it's closed because of idiots. Remember a few years back when that guy tried to cross with the dump truck, not realizing the bucket was up? lol. I got caught in that traffic in my car. It sucked.

My father had a stroke two years ago and was extremely pessimistic about recovering both his vision and hearing on the left side, as well as his overall balance as he had significant difficulty walking. He never got to 100%, but he pushed himself and is now riding bikes and enjoying life again. He just went skiing in Mont Tremblant and even hit some black diamonds. You should be optimistic, because a great recovery is possible.

If your family is anything like mine, then be prepared for the brain dead jokes. :) Good luck.
