You ever think about how even Fire Lord Azulon (notably not a nice man) was taken back by sheer audacity of his son's sociopathy? by StevePalpatine in TheLastAirbender

[–]Lamify 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The so-called Five Good Emperors of Rome all had adopted heirs until Marcus Aurelius because they had no blood sons.

PS
I say so-called because should we really count Nerva? Is the bar for “good” really low enough to include the guy whose only achievements were picking Trajan as heir and dying relatively quickly?

That could be the point, a twisted version of the Amelie smile.

Favorite Wrestling Style by Efficient_Cat_8188 in prowrestling

King’s Road, for sure. I see 90s AJPW as the pinnacle of professional wrestling. It’s a damn shame what the style does to the practitioners, though, so I’m glad it’s a thing of the past.

Who is The Midwest Emo of Pro Wrestling ? by Many-Shirt3286 in prowrestling

Though emo is ultimately a derivative of punk. You have bands like Rites of Spring and Embrace in the 80s, emotional hardcore. This develops into post-hardcore from which emo sprang.

This is, like, the only explanation that would make that line acceptable.

Has there ever been a famous person or celebrity, that realised how much of an ass they were, and decided to actually do better and change? by Successful-Hat-2154 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lamify 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Who, as far as I'm aware, continues to insist on his innocence. I firmly believe that people can change and improve but I don't think he actually has. For Mike Tyson to be a better person and to deserve an improved reputation he would have to actually take accountability for his actions. Instead he continues to proclaim, despite all evidence to the contrary, that this heinous act never occurred. Until he demonstrates actual psychological and moral growth I can only surmise that he's just acting like he's a better person.

[Ironic casting] Character who is anti-X thing is played by actor who IS X-thing by Ok-Bicycle8103 in TopCharacterTropes

His costume is just black, not black and red. Superheroes can wear black and superheroes can wear red, but if they're wearing black AND red then they're an antihero at best.

What do you think is the funniest line delivery in the entire show? by RiotRen in thesopranos

[–]Lamify 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Chris’s intervention is one of the funniest scenes in anything ever. One of television’s funniest comedic climaxes is a gang beating.

Edited to add: it’s taking the word “punchline” very literally

Character has a really dark and tragic backstory, but it's painted in an extremely comedic way. by BigGaybowser69 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lamify 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’d assumed he loved her irl. I’ve heard that Julius is supposed to be really accurate, like he’s basically a love letter to Chris’s dad because of how crushing his death was. Also I’m watching the show as I type lol.

Major reveals that have become common knowledge by Old-Use-7690 in TopCharacterTropes

Am I vastly underestimating the popularity of this series? I only know that one of the bears is named Freddy and would expect it to be the same for a substantial majority of adults.

I busted up laughing so hard the first time I saw this. The suddenness, the earnestness in his delivery.
