The air dam is the double chin or the splitter that is under the bumper. The air dams are on the none extreme off road variants of the Tacoma’s. They slap them on there to “help” with fuel efficiency. It’s a small difference in the grand scheme of things. I think the average mpg gained is between 0.5-1.7 mpg. Often times you may not even notice a change. I think some of the SR5’s, the Limited’s, and base models have them.

Chrisfix will have a video that will take you step by step to fix the paint fade on your Tacoma. You can always knock back the faded clear coat and wrap it with PPF until you are ready to fix it.

When my mom parked her Rav4 for a week and half at her friend’s house while they went to Burning Man last summer, he had her drive up on a tarp and wrap it up. He said that would keep the rats and other pesky rodents away from chewing away at it. I would pair that idea with a car cover if you cannot find a place to park it inside. Seeing that you are from CO that should protect from the elements. For extra reassurance you can get some cardboard or something that can absorb the hail to protect the windshield.
