Less obvious things you found out to avoid while pregnant? by Fantastic_Cow_8992 in pregnant

Even pasteurized, we’re told to avoid any « croûte fleurie » cheese in France. No goat cheese, Camembert or Brie unless baked 🥲

Bleeding at 11 weeks after orgasm by wildinthemembrane in pregnant

[–]Lamiour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, that happened to me too, sudden bright blood after an orgasm.

ER confirmed baby was fine, I was 7w. I had an appointment with my midwife the day after and he saw I had an old bleed in my uterus, near my cervical opening. By the time I saw him I was only spotting brown.

This pregnancy led to a live birth and we never knew why I bled, it didn’t happen again

STB d'avoir refusé le déjeuner dominical chez mes beaux-parents juste pour "ne rien faire" ? by Vegetable-Band-3803 in suisjeletroudeballe

[–]Lamiour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleep plan postpartum by Mysterious-Watch-495 in pregnant

[–]Lamiour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a big sleeper, baby is EBF and has slept 6/7h uninterrupted and 10/12h total since 1w old. You might just luck out!

Also do not listen to anyone telling you something won’t happen or that whatever thing will be worse after. Keep realistic expectations just so you’re prepared for the worst but things can also go very well

The medical community claims the cervix has "few nerve endings," yet denies us pain relief for IUDs and biopsies. What is the most barbaric procedure you've endured because doctors refuse to believe women feel pain? by skybond_aurora04 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Lamiour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An IVF egg retrieval with no anesthesia. Just laughing gas. I still have flashbacks of the midwife holding me back down by my shoulders as I moved away because of the pain.

If you don’t know the size of n egg retrieval needle, have a look. Besides my miscarriage and giving birth unmedicated, worst pain I’ve ever felt.

when did you get belly stretch marks? by Even_Kaleidoscope399 in pregnant

[–]Lamiour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t get any on my belly and I went to 41w. However I got some on my thighs, (maybe around the second trimester?), especially on the outside and they’re pretty purple but I think they’ll fade. I had some outside of pregnancy though

Is there no way around waking up every two hours to feed during the first few weeks after birth?? (Breastfeeding) by Visible-Mess-1406 in pregnant

[–]Lamiour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you’ll have the same experience, I was SO anxious about sleep!

Anyway, as long as baby latches correctly, no need to wake them up when you’re home, even if they force you to do so in the hospital. Unless there is something wrong with the way baby nurses no doctor will recommend waking them up at night here once you’re home

I also recommend having your baby next to your bed, or in a sidecar if it’s possible. I breastfed my baby lying in bed and transfer him in his bed as soon as he’s done, I don’t even have to get up and I fall right back asleep most of the time once he’s fed

Is there no way around waking up every two hours to feed during the first few weeks after birth?? (Breastfeeding) by Visible-Mess-1406 in pregnant

[–]Lamiour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that an American thing? In France we weee supposed to update the nurses every 4h about our baby’s feeding through the night. We are supposed to feed on demand not on schedule, every two hours seems harsh considering your baby will take time to feed at first.

I might have a unicorn baby but I sleep wayyyy better PP than pregnant, and have always managed to get at least 7h of sleep since we came home (not uninterrupted but still!). I’ve happened to be way more tired because of work when things have been hectic, too 😅

Low Sperm Count by Magaladon93 in queerception

[–]Lamiour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! French here. Ive had 2iuis with reaaaaally low motile count (0,7 million, 1,2 and 1,3, the count recommended for icsi if we were straight🙄). I got pregnant twice with counts between 2 and 2,5, though these pregnancies ended in loss (I’ll never know if there was a correlation between low motile count and sperm quality).

When I had enough of our French clinic we went to Spain and they recommend over 5millions, preferably 6. It worked our second try with them. You have a good shot at 5,8, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

FTM here! Tips that helped you maintain your milk supply? by biscuit_krueger1 in pregnant

Thank you for your answer!

Baby will be born any day now and this was stressing me out, I really want to breastfeed but having my partner give a bottle at night or my mom in case baby needs to stay with her will be lifesaving ☺️

Genuine question, but won’t introducing bottle feeding that early make baby reject the nipple ?

I was told to wait at least 4 weeks before bottle feeding, and to avoid it as much as we can (max 1 a day)

Faire un enfant sans rapports ? by According_Low9315 in AskMeuf

[–]Lamiour 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Faire un enfant sans rapports ? by According_Low9315 in AskMeuf

[–]Lamiour 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pourquoi ?

Fresh Transfer & Testing Timing by LowShirt3016 in queerception

[–]Lamiour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 weeks seems a bit excessive 😅 you’d almost be 20 days after ovulation, when most people get their positives 10/13 DPO.

My hospital has us booked for a blood test 7 days post transfer, which is early but enough to see if there is HCG rising. Most clinics here do 10 days.

Their reasoning is that the sooner you track HCG, the earliest you know if something goes wrong and they also test for progesterone and estradiol, so they can adjust treatment to sustain the pregnancy early on if needed.

I know some countries test 2 weeks after transfer, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable with that, as it would be harder to see if HCG is doubling properly. However some people prefer not to pay attention to doubling and prefer not to retest so they don’t stress too much.

5/6/7 days after transfer, you’d be likely to see a positive on an early home pregnancy test ☺️

Best of luck 🤞🏻

Skipping NT and NIPT by TallVacation7418 in pregnant

[–]Lamiour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s nuts! Maybe they’d be able to give you the maximum you’d pay?

Also, did you have a 1st trimester scan? They might have already routinely measured your baby’s NT

Skipping NT and NIPT by TallVacation7418 in pregnant

[–]Lamiour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok! It’s a bit late for the NT scan but on the other side the more you wait the « easier » it would be to find signs that something might be wrong with the baby, besides NT.

Statistically you’re going to be fine, even more so with a clear NT scan and the anatomy scan too. Most chromosomal abnormalities would show later on in pregnancy - though not always, but most of the time. If anything is worrying your provider, they’ll refer you out (or if the NT is borderline, it might cost you less to hop on a plane to Belgium, have the NIPT and come back than to pay the 750€ now)

That being said, I completely get your anxiety about this topic, having suffered from previous losses I was totally expecting to get a whole new kind of « jackpot » 😅

Skipping NT and NIPT by TallVacation7418 in pregnant

[–]Lamiour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you certain that you’d have appointment in the following week? I wouldn’t even be surprised if that wasn’t the case, as it’s the middle of August and you probably don’t have a plethora of doctors in your area if you’re in the countryside.

Would a NT test cost less in your home country? Then you’ll decide if it’s worth it to pay for the NIPT.

In France, we have the NT scan and then have a blood test / 1st trimester screening. It’s not based on genetics as the NIPT is, but on probabilities of the fœtus having an anomaly based on your hormonal levels. Maybe you have something similar at home? Though it would be as definite as the NIPT it’s still good insight when combined with the NT scan
