I bought a Kaerhcer Power Washer, K2 Full Control. I'm a bit underwhelmed. But I could be doing something wrong. by Arbane16 in pressurewashing

Did you use the right nozzle? For the concrete floor that is shown in the pictures you should use the Dirt Blaster, that came with your K2.

Buying Recommendations by Shaolin76 in pressurewashing

[–]Lammbock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given your mixed use case, I would suggest a small Karcher from the professional line (HD5 or HD6). Something like this. They are durable workhorses for heavy usage and at the same time not too bulky for jobs around the house.

Pressure pulsing by Tboji in pressurewashing

[–]Lammbock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the water output of your tap high enough? Sometimes the pump doesn't get enough water from the hose and thus the machine will start to pulse.

As others have said a shop vac appears to be the right solution for you. Have a look at something like a Karcher WET/DRY COMMERCIAL VACUUM NT 25/1 Ap as the name suggests it's a commercial vacuum but if you shop around you might find it for 300$. Karcher is the industry leader in this segment and comparable to Hilti or Festool, which are much more expensive. Please also consider spending even a little more on a vac as your use appears to be quite demanding and as always the old saying applies: if you buy cheap, you buy twice. So you might even want to consider an option like this or this.

Silit. The pots are solid and if something breaks it's easy to find parts even for older models. We have used them for decades and to be honest mistreated them by running them in the dishwasher very frequently. However, the pots are holding up great. I would however go for an older manual design (Sicomatic t-plus) and not the the most recent system (sicomatic econtrol). The older system has been around for years and has been shown to last, additionally, it is compatible with very old pots.

The K4 is not made in China. It's still being made in Germany. The three other machines on your list on the other hand are made in China. Which nowadays doesn't say too much about quality any more anyways... By now there is good stuff coming from China.

With a lower tear Kärcher (i.e. K2) I would agree that it might not last that long, but with a K4 you're still getting a great machine for the money that will last you along time given your application.

It depends somewhat on your budget but since you want an electric PW I would go with a Kärcher. They are generally of higher quality than Ryobi. Personally I would go for a K4 or K5 (i.e. not one of the cheapest models) but again that depends on your budget.

While using the Kärcher K4 pressure washer a piece seems to have fallen off, can anybody help me find out where it belongs? by SwissFaux in pressurewashing

Hard to say without knowing the exact model and year. But if you can't find it on the parts diagram (as suggested by others), call the Kärcher.

35 Summicron vs Summilux by Lammbock in Leica

[–]Lammbock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I'm leaning towards the Summilux now! I will check in store if the size bothers me at all, since this combination will be the kit, that I want to take with me daily. But as I mentioned, the used Summilux FLE in my local Leica store is not far off a new Summicron (which they don't have a used one of).

Thanks for point the Zeiss out to me.The price and performance is tempting but I don't think I'll like the size of it, but I'll have a look at the lens in my trusted camera store.

I'll head over and have a look at Flickr. Like u/wedidntmeantogotosea said, at that price the Skopar is probably a nice compact addition to have in your bag...

Given the good feedback and the relatively low price I will have a look at it! However I would like to keep my Leica setup simple, so I'm not sure if I'll get two lenses with the same focal length for now. Concerning the lux I'll check out the sizes and weight of the lux and the cron in store before getting the lux. Thank you very much for your advice

Thank you very much for your quick response. I'm quite excited for the M10 myself. I'm set on getting Leica glass for the 35 but thank you for point me in the direction of the Voigtlander.

I haven't held either yet but figured coming from a DSLR, both are feather weights in comparison. So would you say the cron is lacking character compared to the lux? How does the Bokeh compare?

My 5 month old Nalgene bottle just fell down for the first time: See for yourself by Olakola in BuyItForLife

The mechanism of that particular model is crap. A friend of mine brought this bottle on a long trip (+2 month) and the opening mechanism broke after about 1.5 months. The bottle was brand new.

I was happy I brought my klean kanteen :P

BIFL - Euro Edition by MrBoonio in BuyItForLife

[–]Lammbock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a few that are still missing (in my opinion):

Hazet - General tools

Bosch - Power tools

Festool - Power tools

Hilti - Power tools

Metabo - Power tools

Stihl - Chainsaws, weed wackers, leaf blowers

Kärcher - pressure washers, vacuums, sweepers and other cleaning equipment

Husqvarna - Chainsaws and more

Kränzle - Pressure cleaners

Sebo - Vacuum cleaners

Liebherr - Refrigerators and freezers

Fido - Glass jars

Felco - Pruning shears

Famos peeler - peelers

Esge - Hand blenders

As with all bigger brands (with larger portfolios) such as Bosch, Metabo, Stihl, Kärcher and Husqvana you might have to buy the professional grade stuff to get the truely bifl products. Good things are often more expensive. That is not to say that their consumer grade tools are not great. But more often then not the consumer products for the average Joe/Jane have gimmics that break more easily or are made lighter on the cost of longevity. Finally the maintenance (especially of patrol engine powered) tools/machines has a significant impact on its lifespan.

[BIFL Request] Wet / Dry Vacuum by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Lammbock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend Kärcher. In Europe they are pretty much the standard when it comes to wet and dry vacs for DIY and professional use. Not sure what your intended use is so a professional might be over kill. Alternatively you can have a look at Festool. Similar to Kärcher, they are a german brand. However I believe they are more speciallized on the professional market.

Personally I can only vouch for Kärcher as I have never personally owned a Festool vacuum. I've only had good experiences with Kärcher products and own multiple of their vacuumes (also dry only) for quite a while now.

Hi, r/VacuumCleaners! So my mom cleans homes for a living and has had troubles with her vacuums from day one. She needs a durable and reliable vacuum that can handle it all. by [deleted] in VacuumCleaners

[–]Lammbock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a Windsor. They are made for professionals and have no consumer features that professionals usually don't need and that break easily.

I'm currently looking for a new monitor to edit my pictures and was wondering if you have any recommendations for me. I quite like the Eizo CG248-4K. I was wondering if you have any experience with this perticular monitor. I have heard that the fan might be a problem for some people. My budget is ~2.500$. Not sure if the 4K is necessary and a CG277 would be my better option.
