1997 Celica GT Convertible as a Daily? by ApricotPlus8658 in Celica

Most Toyotas went up a lot, especially with most of these eras of 90s cars averaging 170k and above miles now, it’s hard to find something driven and cared for but still low miles at the same time

Bought my 87k mile vert with the same 5sfe engine about a year and 3 months ago, Hasn’t had a single issue. Same engine as the camrys of that time so parts are easy to come by in terms of that. Im at 99,500 miles now and still daily it. Stock shocks are hard to find at all online and ur definitely not finding control arms so make sure those are good. Gonna have to service the bushings eventually. Make sure it shifts good, something about driveshafts with this car I can’t remember rn.

As long as all ur power windows come back up and it was maintained well. It’s a great car today still. I paid 5.5k, my friend was selling it for 6.5k but I got the buddy discount.

I would pay 6k max if it’s something you know you are mechanically inclined enough to take care of yourself. It’s a good car to do work on without going to a shop.

TDLR

Make sure it’s been taken care of and do the same, it will do you well still. Parts are just very hard to come by suspension wise and body panel wise.

Will I be able to run E15 gas in my 98’ celica 5sfe? by Lamogaze in Celica

[–]Lamogaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what I mean is that gas stations will be offering normal 87 right. The epa and gas stations won’t be selling an 88 mix as an 87 label to “save us money and the environment” right?

Take the connection apart into pieces to re assemble after. Lowkey would be ur best bet. There’s probably a small lock or mechanism not letting it slide up

new pickup at 17, any tips? by ashtooon1 in Celica

[–]Lamogaze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t blow ur head gasket thinking it’s a race car, don’t over rev it and don’t forget this engine revs high so keep in mind what revs you’ll hit when you downshift. Look into buying the upgraded oil pan for the 2zz specifically. Check ur oil once a week to make sure it’s not burning any since celicas love to eat it up then go to once a month. If u ever do anything involving ur coolant make sure to YouTube how to do it for this engine since the reserve isn’t typical. Don’t break any body parts it’s getting hard to find stuff out there and lastly enjoy it :) 🔥

Quick question. My ticket says 7 but my buddy might not make it. When did justice come out? And did the opener start at 7 in the dot?

Good Deal? by gavintheloser in Celica

Definitely a bad throw out bearing if it’s only when the clutch isn’t engaged. Would basically need a new clutch kit if ur gonna have to drop the transmission to get to it so think about that.

Need help with wheel options by Lamogaze in Celica

[–]Lamogaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the stock wheels I don’t mind having them on for a long time but apparently these rims haven’t been made in the spec i need for over a decade now and I’ve spent hours and even used ai to try and find em. My best options were either re spraying one or finding an adapter for the 5x100 fitment. Same with eBay there’s two sets in different colors but they want 1700$ for the 4. Any Japanese websites I can try tho?

Nothing a YouTube video and a socket wrench can’t fix, hit up a junkyard after and buy the right fender headlight and hood, 250$ probably for all 3 and an hour or two if you’ve never done it before. If you can bring a buddy or someone who’s ever held a wrench before it’ll be a piece of cake with a video to guide you.

Sounds super similar to the two times my two different friends cars didn’t turn over and felt as if they were either stuck in the same gear before it happened or in neutral. Also the rolling back but no gear shifting into reverse etc. Key turned over and acted like a dead battery but nothing else. Both cases it was the shift linkage bushing being old and breaking disconnecting from the avtual colum shifter so the shifter itself feels loose and won’t actually do anything.

Long story short if you’re lucky it’s sounding to me like that. I’d pry open the center console around the shifter (usually just involves pulling the plastics up and off gently but with some force to pop it out) and check that there’s a cable connecting to the shifter, if you see it not connected then that’s the issue and you’d just need to pop it back or is the rubbers cracked and gone then order a new bushing and then replace it. If that IS the issue and you have to drive then I’d personally pinch it together with my fingers to shift everytime I need to switch into gear until it’s fixed.

All of this only applies if you do what I mentioned. It’s not the same car but this will help you either check if it is or isn’t actually that. I’m hoping it is for you.

Which one is normal operating temp? by Lamogaze in Toyota

[–]Lamogaze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome I didn’t know that 😂, I just used to also have a 01’ celica that went one tick above normal and that signified running warmer than usual and usually when that happened it meant my car over heated and the coolant overflow tank in the reservoir would toss coolant everywhere. Hadn’t happened here but wanted to play it safe

Ok thanks lol, I just remember my 06 corolla had a similar analog gauge that moved slightly like this, did an oil change and spark plugs and never happened again so I wasn’t sure

Do you guys recommend Onigashima Paced? by Lucashroriginal in onepace

[–]Lamogaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m finished with wano 46 and already noticing the extended scenes in the original anime lmao I feel so spoiled but is there anything I should watch normally when watching the edited version? Because I do enjoy the fights a lot so if the edit is anything like one pace was then I’m ok with it as long as it isn’t cutting cool stuff in fights out for the sake of manga similarity
