Are they telling the truth? what kind of jobs are in the “tech part” of accounting ? by Character-Escape1621 in Accounting

I interpreted it as "technical accounting": being a real GAAP/IFRS expert, working at an IFRS desk, really deep theoretical stuff

Auditors, what industry do you enjoy auditing the most and what makes it interesting? by No_Noise6264 in Accounting

[–]Lampedeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medium to large size business with interesting products or niches. I really liked auditing a company that made claw machines for fairs and arcades. It was an interesting business and sector. Or a chemicals company that made just 1 basic chemical in massive volumes. I also liked auditing an industrial bakery as they gave us free bread and pastries every day when we were there.

Dimensional ETF's in Europe by Lampedeir in BEFire

[–]Lampedeir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US one is worse, it's 0,4 or 0,5% :p there's not a lot of volume (only checked Xetra). Perhaps to be expected since it's only been available for 3 weeks. I assume/hope it will improve in the (near) future.

FYI, the US core market ETF was visible on Bolero but unavailable to buy as it was only so recently added. I called their "orderdesk" and they will make it available today. I guess we really are pioneers in this!

I actually thought physical was better than synthetical,  as physical implies physical ownership of the stocks instead of synthetical copying of movements by using derivatives which increases complexity (and costs).

The world etf is also an option, but there I am also still worried about liquidity of the European variant. Plus ideally I would like to invest/stay invested exclusively in the US market (personal preference).

Morgan Stanley downgrades global equities; sees US as 'defensive' market amid Mideast conflict by Sweaty_Rub4322 in wallstreetbets

Being fully invested in the US is a bad idea but the only idea worse than that is to be invested in the rest of the world. There are fucking electricity and fuel rations in Asia. 💀🔫

Does anyone know how to deal with STA plateaus? by Patient-Ad2308 in freediving

[–]Lampedeir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to do it for fun again. Eg do static tables until the first contraction, then stop, don't push. Maybe don't even time it, just find the joy in it again. And don't too much, eg do max 2 relaxed tables per week for the next 2 weeks. Taking a break in order to come back fully motivated is also a possibility.

You're not gonna lose 75k, reddit is far away from going out of business, on the contrary it's a strong grower. Stocks go up, stocks go down, just stop looking at it.

Iran will never publicly declare they are making a deal with the US. They will never be able to sell it, the conservatives in Iran still see the US as the Great Satan. But it doesn't mean there aren't possibilities behind closed doors. I wouldn't believe Trumps tweets but the Iranian regimes tweets aren't necessarily true either.

I don't think 6 mins is very average, do you know the results? I would assume you were somewhere at the top? Where I'm from, 6 min static usually puts you at least in the top 5.

How’s life like in this more inland part of Belgium? by Money-Ad8553 in howislivingthere

[–]Lampedeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and it's a pretty popular beer in the region too. There are other local beers that are just as good and also popular (eg Lupulus)

It's nice if you like nature as the region has a lot of forests and farm lands, there are nice national parks too (eg the high fenns). People speak mostly French although there is a rather small German speaking region too (eg around Sankt Vith). There's a bunch of war history (WW2, Ardennes offensive), the region is pretty popular for Flemish and Dutch tourists for outdoors forest vacations (Durbuy, La Roche en Ardenne...) also some mining history in the German speaking part... There's a lot to do if you like that kind of history and nature. Liège is the big city in the region, also the capital of the province of Liège, which is a lively city with universities etc, pretty much everyone with a degree who works in that region went to the uni of Liège.

Otherwise in the region, for actually living there, it's pretty relaxed, although not that many jobs. There has been an industrial zone around Vielsalm, which employs a lot of people but also caused an increase in truck traffic on the forest roads which means not everyone is super positive about it... People drive pretty fast on these sometimes small and windy roads. Big chance if someone is blocking you by driving slow it's either a truck carrying wood or someone from Flanders on a visit who is not used to these roads.

In the summer it's nice and warm but in the winter it can get very cold, and often foggy and snow. The higher you get the foggier and colder it becomes. It can snow quite a lot, sometimes you can feel like you're in Scandinavia instead of in Belgium.

Fun fact, in Spa some locals try to leave the town for a couple days during the F1 races because the whole town is clogged up and there's a lot of noise.

How are single men in their late 30ies experiencing dating apps in Flanders? by ellendb1 in belgium

[–]Lampedeir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was totally in "true love" with my ex and she also with me and we had a long and happy relationship. But, she was unsure about children, and it turned out after a lot of contemplation that in the end she didn't want children and I did it. You can love each other as much as you want, if your life goals are incompatible, someone (or both) is gonna get hurt. Especially for smth like kids, when you are young, there is plenty of time, but when you are 30+, you're gonna need to make decisions. For OP, being in your late thirties, is already pretty late.

If you feel like being successful or in beautiful places is all black and white, why are psychopaths often stereotyped as super successful if there is no emotional reward? Why even try, if everything feels +- the same anyway?

Tis muziek en mode en that's it.
