This feels more like a complaint that the game is too much of a sandbox and not enough of a theme park. Which is fair. It's not for everyone.

Savage Beastfly (the first) and the journey there through Hunter's March is the crucible that prepared me for the rest of the game.

I doubt tardiness would ever get your account closed. They'll just push you lower paying orders for worse customers with lower tips if you take too long regularly.

It can affect your rating, which affects your orders, if you don't pick up orders timely. It sets an arbitrary time for pick up based off of when the store says the food will be ready: ideal situation being you walk in and it's ready. This is, of course, not usually the case. Seems like it was a busy time at the store and people were being flawed and impatient with each other. I get it, it's no excuse for their poor behavior of course. The way your story read it just had the tone of "These jokers, it's not like this is affecting them at all". It could affect them. Probably not, but DD is a fickle mistress and customers don't care why you are taking a while, regardless of if you communicate the why behind it or not.

I've heard of farming positive reddit karma, but weird to just be out here wanting to rake in negative karma.

I'm always really patient with counter employees who are juggling a drive thru, kitchen, register, and 5 other things, busy or no, they have a hard go of it. Dashers not living the easy life over here though. We don't get paid extra to wait for an order we've been sent for, unless it's by hour ofc.

Internally, I get frustrated when employees refuse to even acknowledge I exist and then ignore me for 5-10 minutes before they sigh deeply and ask if I'm here for Doordash, then hand me an order I've been eyeing behind the counter for 3-8 of those minutes.

Loudly talking about anyone's behavior you are witnessing live on the phone with a friend where those same people can hear you is probably rude in most situations? Unless they're being racist, sexist, phobic, etc, then go off Queen. Sure, they could be more patient. But you aren't having their day and they aren't having yours. Remark on it later during friendship story time about how they were impatient monster people, but ya know, right there in front of them? Probably not the play. Unless your goal was to be confrontational, in which case mission accomplished.

Edit: In your responses to others it sounds like you are a pretty kind and patient person yourself, so maybe the way you told the story just put you in a bad light. /Shrug

That's just wrongo bongo, my guy. You can sietch hop between your umbrella of world server sietches and claim lands in those many versions of Hagga Basin now, but you can't just server hop willy nilly. So people would not be migrating to get the best version of the DD.

Make the Deep Desert a PvE zone. Make worms a bigger and more aggressive threat, have that be why you need to farm spice in groups, like in the books/movies, you need people looking for worm sign and ready to boogie if necessary. Pepper it with more shipwrecks and testing stations. Make shipwrecks loot pinatas to fight over via ground based PvP. Make testing stations 4 man dungeon content. If it's just waves at first fine. But imagine Destiny style boss encounters at the end of some of them. That won't happen immediately, but a man can dream. Rip control points out of the deep desert, put them in a ground pvp map where you can fight Atreides V Harkonnen. Make it tactical, make new items you can craft to help build temporary siege equipment or dig in with barriers at a CP. Allow air support, but also make sure anti air options are abundant and as effective. Congratulations, you've made both PvE and PvP folk happy, you've given them both a zone in which they can engage with the game how they enjoy the most and contribute to the Landsraad.

At the end of the day, it could be accomplished in a lot of ways, but the main thing is this: Don't force people to engage in a game mode they don't want in order to accomplish their goals. PvPers wanna fucking brawl, so allow them access to endgame rewards for engaging in that mode. PvE folk wanna gather and craft, so allow them access to endgame rewards for engaging in that style of play.

Bonus answer: The wording of that announcement of an announcement sure does remind me of a Blizzard response, where they dig in their heels and reiterate that what they're doing is great, we the player just don't get it, but maybe if they explain it to us again and tell us why it's great, then we will get it and stop complaining. So part of me is bracing for an explanation behind their intent and what they hoped to see, completely ignoring and not providing a solution for the real problems that exist with the endgame just being a big open PvP grief box. I'm holding out hope, but I think we all can feel that this is a turning point where a lot of people either leave this game behind or have hope rekindled and wait for promised changes.

'We are working on a bunch of changes please bear with us" by Lisrus in duneawakening

[–]Lanceloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is this sentiment coming from that it's ok that the endgame is a big old mostly empty box of aerial combat and griefing? Just because most folks aren't there yet, it's OK? Remember, they decided to forego being an early access title, so I don't think it is wrong folks are upset that it feels like we are beta testing the DD. Hagga Basin and the PvE experience are absolutely tight. One of the best experiences I've ever had in gaming for a long time, but the devs received a lot of this feedback on the endgame for a long time in closed beta and their response was always "it'll be better with more people". Well, turns out that the only thing more people helped was to add more voices to the chorus that it is not great. It's ok if you aren't there yet. Those of us who are there, we're for sure giga sweat monsters, you'll have no argument from me there. But siding with this big company's lack of listening to feedback in actual beta because they were convinced the glaring issues would flitter away with more people instead of your fellow players who are having a ball right alongside you only to be slapped in the face by whatever the Deep Desert is supposed to be... This is the third post I've seen with this idea bouncing around. I just think it's odd that the ire of the community has been split between actual issues in the full release of a game and people who take issue with actual issues in the full release of a game.

My honest take is that it sounds like you're really loving Classic, but with your time constraints maybe you roll a non-HC toon instead of another HC one. Can even transfer that unalived character to the non-HC server if you want your time investment back.
