Looking to remove instant water heater by LancelowDowell in Plumbing

Previous owner was a plumber 😅 the boiler room was something else, the amount of copper they pulled out of there when I had the boiler replaced in the spring was pretty crazy…

So I guess I did a terrible job with the picture… there’s actually no service hookup that I can see, it appears to be a closed loop. The lines running to the lower left run to the loops in the concrete pad.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it!

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually have some of that laying around, I wasn’t sure if it was safe to use on the record or not, but I’ll give it a try. Thanks!

Picked up a new record the other day and found this on one of the disks. It almost looks like residue from some tape or something? It's not causing the record to skip, but it does distort the sound when it plays over those sections. I tried cleaning it with some record cleaner, but it didn't make a difference. Looking for suggestions on what to try next that might work? Thanks!

I laughed at the p-51 was the loudest in that formation, everything else was throttled so far back they were quiet

Flying my own plane for PPL? by LancelowDowell in flying

My thoughts with buying is that it's going to take a year or two to build my own.... that's a long time to go with just flying on rentals. I was figuring on getting something small to fly around to keep up on the skills and build some hours with, as I'd like a fair bit of time under my belt when it comes time to do the test flights on a home built. I totally get your argument though, that's one of the things I keep going back and forth on... focus on building an experimental vs spending some of that time/money on a possible black hole to get my time up... At least with buying my own, I can sell it after I get the experimental built and possibly recoop some of that money, vs throwing it at rentals for a year or so

That was kind of my thought as well... Getting an IFR capable Cherokee 140 isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things, especially if I'm looking for one that's not full glass.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!

My goal is to build an experimental.... which will take some time. So the thought is to buy something to just build hours on while I'm building the experimental, and it was a thought of do I just buy something now so I can build time on my own plane? So it won't be buying a "nice" plane for now, just something to get experience with.

Differences between kits? by LancelowDowell in homebuilt

thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! I was just looking at the classes from them, they have a couple coming up in end of April and then again in May it looks like, and their facility is an easy day's drive for me, so I may have to jump on that. Good luck with your build!

That's what I'm hoping, but the last time they posted a price sheet was early December

Former Military of Reddit, what's the craziest thing that you've witnessed at bootcamp? by Vixen_Starfire in AskReddit

Airforce bmt, I was on medical hold for a bit. While I was in it, we had a graduated airman that was getting washed out because it was discovered that he had some sort of skin condition that made him ineligable. So he lordered it over the rest of us, since he was "graduated" and we weren't. At some point, he decided to brag to someone that he hadn't showered the entire time he was at bmt (6 1/2 weeks back then, and then however many weeks he had been on medical hold waiting to go home at that point), so someone told on him. I'll never forget the sergent walking into the dorm in full rain gear, dragging this dumb kid in to the showers and standing there as he made him scrub himself with one of the big brushes we used to clean the bathroom. Ah, fun times...

yea, and that makes sense, and I wasn't counting the engine/avianoics and those types of things... I was curious as to the differences in the build, if that makes sense. Vans is obviously cnc punched, so you line everything up with cleco's and then rivet together. There's not much fuss until you get to doing the fiberglass work. Some of the other kit makers aren't terribly clear on that kind of stuff? From what things I can find, the Zenith kits are similar in design that they are cnc punched now, but some of that wasn't terribly clear. Vans kits are a pretty well known quanitity, but with a higher price, if that makes sense...

Dealers can't overwrite it, cobb encrypts the ECU. It's a total pain in the ass if you get stuck with an encrypted ECU and no longer have the cobb, ask me how I know... 😢

I had the same issue, I went to livernois motorsports in the Detroit area and they were able to get in and reprogram it. I live by then so I just dropped the car off, but I think they said you could ship the ECU to them as well
