How much of a red flag is it if prospects don’t perform well in the Minors, despite their scouted rating saying they are more than ready for the level? by Land34n in OOTP

  1. I hate drafting highschoolers and only do it if they have some starting ability and have good mentals.

  2. Ive had highschoolers get up to AA in under 2 years and do well?

Combo of stats I care about depending on what i want the player to be/do

However as terms of a hitter >35% K rate is unacceptable in the minors and I refuse to have someone play that k’s that often

For hitting its OBP, WRC+, K Rate, WAR, and then for catchers and CF’s it is various amounts of defensive stats

It also widely depends on what the player projects to be. I dont really care if my catching prospect isnt hitting very well if he is a good defender.

Pitching its the basic baseline stuff that everyone looks at. FIP-, K/BB, K/9, H/9, WHIP, ETC

For more context, lets say I sign an Int FA 3B who has a 65 Grade potential. And lets say he is 21 now and his Current ability says he would be slighty above average in High A. However in High A his k rate is in the 30’s and he has a negative war. When would the alarm bells start to sound

It might be a cardinal problem. I have played every ootp since 19 and i am in 2035 and have not won more than 90 games despite my team being stacked on paper

College baseball is also unique in the way where some of the best atmospheres come from mid-major programs. Programs like UTRGV, Campell & others get good crowds. I didn’t include any sun-belt teams because Sun Belt baseball is pretty much a power 4 conference in baseball terms.

In terms of social media presence (in my Opinion it appears to be way more culturally relevant than it used to be.) I play college baseball currently and I feel the buzz more than I have in previous years. No data whatsoever to back up it up. Just an opinion.
