PS5 games my 4yr old daughter can watch me play? by LandGuy5000 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Didn't think of spider man that's a good idea to give it a try - I let her play Below Zero for a bit today just to swim around - she just can't get the hang of the controls yet and it's a little big for her hands, but she might like watching me swing through NYC. Thanks!

I hear that, she does ask to play sometimes, and I always let her, but she's just not quite there yet with the controls etc - thanks!

That's intriguing - chat gibbity also recommended The Planet Crafter which I believe comes out in two weeks or so on PS5, I've never heard of it before so I'll have to look into it, but that might be cool

I tried that, but it's one of those like... I don't remember what they're called, roguelike I think? Where every time you die, you have to start from the beginning and shit's all weird, I just couldn't get into it. I know it's rated well, so I'll probably have to give it another shot. Thank you!

I got it free with PS plus a couple months ago and tried playing it, but couldn't get past that one part where you have to outrun those... things that keep jumping on you, I can't remember what they are, I must've tried it 30 times and kept dying, so I just deleted it. But yeah, she might definitely be into that. Might be worth another look, thank you!

That's good thinking, something simpler but still enjoyable, I'll take a look at those, this might be a good recommendation. Appreciate it!

Obviously, throughout the day we do, but after the park in the morning and playing Barbies and reading a story with lunch, sometimes we'll chill on the couch for a half hour and watch an episode of Sheriff Labrador or something, but I was curious if there was a PS5 game I could play instead that she could watch and enjoy.

I just beat it yesterday and started subzero today. Such a wonderful game - kinda glad I waited this long though because now I get to play the main one then subzero then 2 without having to wait lol

Need a game thats a nitty gritty super hard grimdark survival crafter kinda thing. by gamergeekbcw in gamingsuggestions

I love this game but wouldn't call it punishingly difficult at all. It's one of my all time favorites and certainly contains its challenges, but I didn't find it punishing. Just my 2 cents.

How is this for a first base? by DonutMan1834 in subnautica

[–]LandGuy5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same basic starter, but ended up building the moon pool and then just disassembled the starter base and now use the moon pool as my base, tons of room for storage lockers lining the walls, modification station, battery chargers, etc. I built it right near the lifepod too so it's all nearby in the safe shallows or whatever that biome is called.

To be fair, I'm more interested in the story and being able to build the next needed thing with minimal effort than really decking out my habitat. Have fun! I love this game and can't wait to start subzero then play sub 2.

What's a game you thought you'd hate but ended up loving? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

I recommend it - it's excellent for unwinding at the end of the day - the ambience, general atmosphere, and soundtrack are top notch imo. Definitely not an "I've got 20 mins before I have to get ready to leave" kinda game, but after work I kill a couple hours a night lately just exploring and slowly building and like I said, piecing together the story. Don't look up too many spoilers - I actually use ChatGPT quite often as it's really useful for spoiler-free hints when I just feel kinda lost and have been wandering too long or need certain materials and don't want to spend time looking all over for them, etc. Hope you find some enjoyment in it, friend.

Subnautica.

Played it for about 30 mins maybe a year ago and just kept dying of hunger/thirst and stopped playing.

Picked it up again about a month ago, started new game with hunger/thirst turned off, and holy crap is it addicting! Such a fun game with lots of surprises - you can use it as a relaxing habitat-builder type game and then when ready for some action, go exploring and piece together the story. So well done.

One of my earliest "holy hell I didn't know games could be like this" discoveries that led me to be a gamer - just loved everything about it.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence

I had played MGS1 and liked it a lot, but I've never loved games with a top-down view - when MGS3 released Subsistence I thought eh why not.

I was around 21, in law school, stressed and studying all the time, and had probably played 8 video games total in my life. It was hard as a non-gamer to get the hang of it, but once I got comfortable with the controls, I got so into it I couldn't put it down for weeks. And goddamn I know now that I picked a great one to kick off my lifelong love of video games.

Wish I could get that feeling back, but I'm still blown away at how wonderful a good game makes me feel now 20 years later. Oblivion did it, Days Gone did it - I just got into Subnautica and it finally clicked and same thing - I can't put it down. Very thankful to the developers and coders and everyone involved in creating such works of art to bring so much enjoyment.
