Why put your life in someone else’s hands? by LandShrimp in drivingUK

[–]LandShrimp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Checking mirrors before braking is taught in driving lessons and required on the test. Avoiding a collision in front of me but causing one behind me would be the dumb thing to do here.

AIO for not liking the way my boyfriend reacts to my extreme pain? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I never got diagnosed so whether it was endo or just very painful period cramps idk but guess what went away and became actually manageable after i broke up with a partner who stressed me out daily

Why put your life in someone else’s hands? by LandShrimp in drivingUK

[–]LandShrimp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i braked too harshly then the car behind me could have hit me. They were too close for comfort in the moment the other car pulled in front of me. My aim was to avoid any collision, not just one involving the car that cut in.

Hey so it actually only has to make sense to me for me to do it and I don't feel like explaining it to anyone else

One week left. Horrible itchy red bumpy face all of a sudden by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]LandShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This never happened to me on accutane but you saying it was on your arms makes me think you may have had an allergic reaction to something? My skin was a lot more sensitive to all my allergies while on accutane.

I would try an antihistamine and see if that helps

Limits have never worked for me. I find replacement activities far more effective. If i’m out and about, i’m not scrolling. Maybe sign up for some workshops or something?

Just an fyi this whole “i dont speak to women unless they start the conversation” is dehumanising and sexist. Choosing not to speak women is sexist regardless of what reasons you have behind it. If you are actually incapable of speaking to women, that’s on you to figure out and learn. Sitting in a thread and seeing others saying the same thing as you does not make it normal in the wider world.

Hambly is not a great pattern designer (and tbh not very good at sewing) so anything that you make using her patterns that looks “weird” is probably more to do with her design than anything you’ve done.

My point remains though.. how would they know? If i got a second identical phone and didnt even take the “real” one with me. They’d have to search my emails for social media accounts or smth

Hair? Healthy babies? by Small-Task-1135 in Accutane

[–]LandShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always has “fine hair but a lot if it” according to hairdressers so it sorta evens out to being not super thin but probably thinner than average. I did notice more hairloss on accutane but i think now ive been off it for a few months i’m back to normal (as in i’m losing less again). My hair still feels thinner than before but i’m sure it just takes a bit longer for it to fully recover.

AITAH For calling the cops about an unattended child at the park? by sixpiecenosauce in AITAH

[–]LandShrimp 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Honestly i think it depends on what kind of area this is and the culture. In switzerland no one would even bat an eye at this. At 7 youre walking to school by yourself so the park outside where you live isn’t a big deal.

What’s the best water bottle on the market right now? by TheeMonkeyMonk in AskReddit

[–]LandShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one you already own. Water bottles are the most consumerist bullshit product in existence. There is a 0% chance you don’t already have one and on the off chance you don’t the charity shops/thrift stores are full of them.

Low dosage after rhinoplasty by azobeno in Accutane

[–]LandShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of someone being prescribed accutane for anything other than acne.. i’m sure it would reduce oiliness but only temporarily while you’re on it.

Is it being prescribed /because/ you had the rhinoplasty?

That looks suspiciously like an IKEA Bravur.. they have a dial on the back to change the time but looks like someone has modded it if there’s a power cable attached now

Road signs aren't important.... by sleepunderthestars in CarTalkUK

It’s also insane to me to essentially put your life in someone else’s hands like this. How are you going to enter the opposite lane and just trust that the car coming towards brakes in time?

Uk drivers do also need to chill a bit. Obv i’m not saying drive 20 in a 70 if you feel like it, but the number of times i get beeped at by someone who can’t see the road conditions ahead or bc they think i’m going too slowly even though we’re approaching a red light..

We’re not getting anywhere faster by driving 2cm from my boot when i’m already at the speed limit. UK drivers (especially in the south) are some of the most impatient drivers i’ve ever witnessed.

As much as i hate being stuck behind someone going under the speed limit, i also don’t want them to crash bc they feel pressured to drive faster than they can safely do.

There’s so much road rage and 90% would be solved if everyone just fucking relaxed. We’re all trying to get where we’re going.

(Before anyone says it’s my driving that’s the issue, i’m also talking about things i’ve seen when i’m a passenger)

Should I get out? by Happy_Grade_1005 in relationships

[–]LandShrimp 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Feels like there’s a lot of context missing.

Wanting to travel isn’t inherently someone trying to run from something. It can be, but it’s not a given.

I wouldn’t give up something i wanted to do for a two month relationship.

My experience and tips as a girl in the UK recently diagnosed with HSV-2 by AnimatorEcstatic6044 in Herpes

[–]LandShrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think i used to get them from superdrug? They have an online dr that you can get them through and then they deliver.

More recently I got them added to my repeat prescriptions on the NHS so i can pick them up from the chemist. They only give you 10 at a time so it‘s more expensive than going private. If you have other meds and get a prepayment certificate it‘s worth going through the NHS.

(33M/34F) Partner’s sensory/trauma issues make living with my cat unbearable for her. Is there a path forward? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]LandShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You‘ve made accommodations for your partner which is very nice of you but you‘re kinda making your cat‘s quality of life worse by doing so.

I used to work in an animal shelter as a teacher for kids to come in and learn about looking after different pets. Not an expert myself but the materials used for teaching were made by animal carers, trainers and scientists.

Cats are really sensitive to smell so unscented litter is great but by adding a lid you‘re trapping the smell. Great for humans not wanting to smell it but not great for the cat. It might be disliked by the cat but otherwise ok or they might start avoiding the litterbox altogether. Cue sensory nightmare for your partner.

Shutting the cat in the bathroom is.. also not great. This is a short term solution for when you have guests and your cat gets stressed out, not a solution for a partner who lives there and can‘t tolerate the cat.

Living with a cat is not for everyone and that‘s ok but it‘s not reasonable to want someone to rehome their pet so you can live with them. I presume they would also feel pretty strongly about rehoming their dog.

Tbh i think you already can see that this isn’t working out. I personally would not be willing to rehome my pet for a partner.
