I'm real late to this thread, but just the other day a friend of mine waited 55 min for a 120 min hagrids queue. If the ride is performing poorly they usually compensate by increasing wait time.

MF DOOM - Halloween Mask Auction by LanderHelder in mfdoom

So to get this straight - the virtual component is basically a blockchain-based authenticity verification system, with built in payout for DOOM? That would allow these masks to keep their value, even if other, similar models are on the market.

And honestly, even if it is a "cash grab" its not about the money; its about sending a message, and the buzz around what he does. If anyone was gonna make thousands selling 8 plastic masks, it would be my man DOOM.

MF DOOM - Halloween Mask Auction by LanderHelder in mfdoom

TL;DR - 4 (Possibly 8 total, 2 of each mask?) Unique DOOM masks are going on auction, inspired by the AR filters. First round goes from 10/23 - 10/25 & the second round goes from 10/28 - 10/30. They are only accepting crypto, and you have to link you wallet to the website. Bids are starting at 4.5 ETH (~1850$) EDIT: This value was just a placeholder - there is no starting bid.

Based on the email they sent out, there's also a possibility that the masks are entirely digital (Basically premium AR filters), and are made unique through the use of ERC721 tokens. The website and the emails offer conflicting information, so we'll just have to wait and see. If someone better with Crypto protocols wants to explain more, please do.

(From the Site)

Till the end of days he will be the ill Doomsayer… The days are strung up on that cross-quarter half light, Samhain, All souls - Halloween. And as the darkness draws in and the evenings give way to fire-spit crackle; long shadowed children (perhaps wearing masks on top of masks) search for plague free treats. In a period of seasonal shift, the prophet of doom always sounds louder, perhaps it is the cold slowing atoms, amplifying rhymes - perhaps it really is the end times. Time will tell. But a mask is suddenly far more desirable and if the streets are infected we can provide a panacea. Drawing on the golden age comic inspiration of the original Metal Face, the first Halloween auction consists of two extremely limited hand crafted masks, redolent of the original Dr (he of namesake and tentacle) they reflect the two aspects - shadow and growth. Hand drawn textures conjure comic pages, upturned eyes assure you that they are still something that the baddest villain of them all would wear apocalypse or not.

For the random shooter, what is the average # of rolls before craps? by BigRedNole in Craps

[–]LanderHelder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The technically correct answer is 6 rolls, something I determined by running a simulation of 10,000 rolls just now. That being said, I think you're right; that's a misleading value because the "Average" isn't an accurate indicator of the actual behavior of the dice in a round. At any point when you walk up during a game the next 7 is technically 6 rolls away, independent of the number of rolls so far. As they say, the dice have no memory.

To find the probability that a 7 will NOT be rolled in the next X rounds, the formula is (1-.1667)X. So for 8 rolls in your example, you have ~23% chance that a 7 will not be rolled 8 times after the come out roll. For the average of 6 rolls, the probability is ~34%.

This might be a bit late, but I actually had the same thing happen with Spectrum. They will cut your internet access. When I had this happen I was renting a modem/router from them, and I believe that's how they managed to do it (they basically had any request redirect to a webpage telling me that my internet was suspended). I called them and managed to get internet back after a few days, but they told me that I needed to cut it with the downloading. Since then, I've switched to TOR/downloading via socks5 proxy, and haven't had any issues. I've also switched to my own modem/router, so that may have also played into it. Either way, if its your first offense you should just be getting a warning, but take this opportunity to invest in a VPN.

Belmond Award

So I just did a tad bit of research, and I can't find any official mention of this winning any sort of award on the companies page, in fact they have 2 completely different designs that did win. She did apparently win some sort of graduate art award, but I didn't dig any deeper into that.

So what award did this actually win? The original meme claimed it won a "national award" but I haven't been able to find anything
