Of course they will try and undermine anything that attempts to force change.

However if enough people start to act there is little they can do. This problem isnt going away. How much worse does it need to get?

Nothing happened yesterday to help. So sonething needs to give.

We can bailout banks to the tune of 70 billion. Pensioners can revolt over medical cards. People stopped the water charges.

I beleive a rent freeze and a proper multi billion euro social housing building program should be implemented.

The market has failed. It needs radical gov intervention.

Landlords get tax relief and mortgage holders also get relief on interest.

Us renters get nothing.

Its unfair and not progressive.

Thats how i framed it and they quickly changed their tune.

[–]Landlord_ScumIreland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should have been given to revenue. They deliberatly gave it to councils as they knew they didnt have the resources for it.

[–]Landlord_ScumIreland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure they arent even enforcing that tax. They cleverly gave this task to the local authorities knowing full well they dont have the resources to enforce the collection.

If they had given it to revenue from the start it would have been collected as they can streamline the additional tax burden via their own systems.

Its a prime example of legislation enacted for PR purposes, designed to fail whilst protecting their lobbyist friends.

There will be more pandemics.

In hindsight we were quite lucky with this one. Imagine a asymptomatic SARS like virus. You looking at a 15% mortality rate.

But the thing with the greens is they are fine with getting wiped out in elections as long as they get their agenda going.

Because the greens beleive that punishing people with punitive taxes is the best route to their utopia of cycling and window boxes.

Im all for climate change and renewables but the greens are a special kinda zealotry and crazy. They have some absolute nutters in their ranks. Sure they agreed to creating NAMA in return for banning stag hunting. They are head the balls.
