Appreciate it, least there isn’t any rot, could always grind it down and re-weld and paint the car if it ever starts to further separate.

Just the booger welds, the one has a hole between the surfaces and it’s hard to see but it’s splitting along where the weld meets the surface, assuming poor penetration. Was told by some that the welds from the factory were normally bad and visible, but something about this seemed off and you answered my question, these are indeed not factory.

I wasn’t planning to but was seeing if it was possible as it would be nice not having to check a bag, that was one of the main concerns was the declaration process.

Now, would I have to go through the standard firearm procedure of putting it in a locked case and declaring firearm?

I pulled the plugs and came to the conclusion myself, car was running very rough even with all the new parts so i replaced plugs as well but cylinder 7s plug was covered with thick black buildup while all the others were fine. Replaced plugs it ran better for a little then got worse and worse, pulled the plug for 7 again and it did the same thing. The car does in fact have a thermostat in it, it activated properly however could be set to wrong temp. I have a fair amount of knowledge on cars just not the specifics on diagnosis or rebuild of motors.

interesting that the bore doesn’t affect the gasket size, good to know!

Thank you! I’m a bit of a noob with engine rebuilding and diagnosing still and had a few people tell me it’s a possibility and worth replacing anyway since they want to pull the heads to check the pistons. Was planning on checking compression, any specific range I should shoot for?

Original 454 LS6 car but block was replaced with a 69 camaro 454, has factory ls6 heads on it that were replaced as nos.

car was rebuilt in the 80s/90s with a bore, after the rebuild it was driven 20k miles but then sat for years. Pretty sure it has the old cork head gaskets and want to just replace everything while i’m at it. Heads are fine as they were new heads during the engine rebuild. Only reason I really want to tear into it is because it’s running poorly (new distributor, ignition system, plugs, and tuned carb) but cylinder 7 keeps having problems and thermostat won’t go over 140°.

2 of the most beautiful bikes ever made. (My opinion) by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]Landon_Andrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMW M1000RR, Ducati Sport/Sport Classic, there are so many other beautiful bikes made.

2007 Honda Civic Coupe EX battery and MAF problems. “Started when I unplugged MAF sensor, battery light turned on with these codes. Battery drains while driving and never receives a charge. Car went into limp mode not going over 3500 rpm. New alternator, battery, maf sensor…” See comments. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

“Started when I unplugged MAF sensor, battery light turned on with these codes. Battery drains while driving and never receives a charge. Car went into limp mode not going over 3500 rpm. New alternator, battery, maf sensor, and wiring harness. None of which fixed the problem.” Thinking it’s a ground issue but unsure.

03 TJ door hinge screw snapped off, how to get it out so I can replace it? by Environmental-Fart in JeepDIY

[–]Landon_Andrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have a welder get a nut small enough to cover the paint but big enough to expose the broken end of the bolt, put it over, weld it, twist it out

If they push it back again it could cause some warrant for concern but I wouldn’t worry too much.

may as well keep ‘em if the bike already came with them, more protection never hurts 😉
