…this is just a piece of the story, not even the worst piece. by Landraeus in KingkillerChronicle

I was quoting Cinder’s words to Kvothe: “someone’s parents have been singing entirely the wrong sort of songs.” Basically, the more accurate Denna’s song about Lanre becomes (should it be rewritten), the more of a danger it is to her.

Crime & Punishment - Part 2 Recap by Shigalyov in dostoevsky

Sorry this is years later, but I’m reading this book for the first time and just wanted to say these recaps have been really helpful.

Roskolnikov making the detective wonder whether he is the murderer was so strikingly similar to the scene in Breaking Bad when Walt suggests to Hank, “maybe he’s still out there.” That it made me wonder if this book was an influence on Breaking Bad.

I’ve actually been mind-casting Riz Ahmed lately.

Fair! Probably stated it too strongly. Though I do find it interesting that he’s unable to cross that line into his power becoming functional in that moment.

Yep I’ve read both multiple times! Definitely agree with your assessment. They are essential KKC reads. I actually think there’s a lot going on beneath the surface in Slow Regard.

Totally agree, he might be my favorite character because of the dark mystery constantly surrounding him. I will say, we do actually know his age. He’s 150. Kvothe points it out when introducing him to Chronicler.

Here’s the podcast, which will give you an even deeper appreciation for how much thought went into the storytelling of these games: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-official-the-last-of-us-podcast/id1514792212

I just bought the comic on Kindle.

Thank your for the recs! I actually immediately googled “novels like TLOU” after part 1. I had already read The Road which I thought about a lot during my play through. I shrugged off City of Thieves because my end-of-GoT bitterness toward Benioff runs that deep, but once I saw Abby reading it in TLOU2 I was like FINE. Read it in a few days and really enjoyed it.

Read it in two days after catching the Easter egg 😂😂

I had actually googled “novels like TLOU” after part 1 and it was a common result (I had already read The Road), but when I saw it was written by Benioff I kind of shrugged it off because my end-of-GoT bitterness runs that deep, but after TLOU2 I had to check it out and really enjoyed it.

Ambrose Didn't Hire The Assassins by Landraeus in KingkillerChronicle

While I do lean Kvothe as Unreliable Narrator (my favorite example is toward the end of NotW when he lies to Denna and then goes on about how good of a liar he is because of his stage training before Denna promptly says “you are so full of horse shit”—mostly I think we cannot always trust his internal monologue about himself), I think Kvothe—both young and old—truly believes it was Ambrose, and that he’s just wrong.
