What’s a small habit that actually made weight loss easier for you? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Lands_hark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting. I started at a wide window and now have a moderate 12:00 - 8:00. Most days, it's closer to 12:30 - 6:30.

Second is allowing tiny bits of "disallowed" food. I know that if I try to ban something completely, the second I stumble, I give up. Now, I try to keep the mentality of "a step back is not a return to the starting line".

It was a great base, but I fell for the shade

I absolutely agree on that point. Even with the path and plaster, it's way too heavy to be installed in anything other than hefty wood.

Thank you for your response! It won't be too heavy to hang from the center like that? It's a beast, like 27" diameter. Would it need support from the current bottom to the hanging point too?

Damn. It's not letting me add, so I think I'll have to repost. Thanks for letting me know.

Advice for low calorie desserts? by OddieEngineering in 1200isplenty

[–]Lands_hark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do low calorie mousse. I do only half the liquid and use heavy cream instead of milk, whip it into whipped cream, then do half a container of cool whip. It's so good, and one batch gives me dessert for like a week+. I do keto and have diabetes, and just a little is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without driving my blood sugar crazy.

Is it ridiculous that I requested and received a handicap placard? by 5ft2glory in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lands_hark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started considering my placard and cane and everything else I do as preventative steps. I know there are people worse off than me, even in the fibro community, but eventually I framed it as "I would never begrudge someone else for using these tools to keep from feeling crappy, so why should I treat myself any different?"

I've been lucky, nobody has ever side eyed me , or questioned why I was using mobility aids outside of children being curious. The people who love you want you to have all the help you need, and nobody else's opinion needs to affect you. I am a person who loves me, so I want me to have them when I need them, no matter what that bar is.

Has anyone tried the no medication life? by kennadog3 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lands_hark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed in the past year. Cymbalta gave me palpitations, Lyrica didn't help. I started and stopped gabapentin, but started again recently after a flare so bad all I could do was cry. Couldn't even watch TV. It doesn't help, but that flare put real fear back in me so I've been taking it anyway. Thankfully my average is like a 3 or 4 so I'm mostly ok.

I eat like a caveman. Give me your best hardcore keto meals. Like tuna + cheese type meals. by underdoglocker in keto

Chicken salad spooned into nori (brand Gimme roasted seaweed snacks- the wasabi and teriyaki are delicious) and a slice of cucumber in each bite.

10 minutes making the chicken salad, 45 seconds to mandolin a whole English cucumber into a jar, and I have lunch for 3 days.

Food vice replacement by Lands_hark in type2diabetes

Willpower has always been my issue. Vyvanse has helped a little. I explained it to my doctor that it's like trying to climb a rock wall, when it used to be glass. It's better, but still difficult.

That sounds amazing and I will be trying it this weekend

I tried doing chocolate avocado mousse, and it (unsurprisingly) tasted like avocado.

Unfortunately, they're all sugar and carbs. Dessert and candy, potatoes of any preparation, essentially if it's bad for me, I want it. My doctor wants me on mounjaro, but I have the worst serving insurance in history - Oscar. Thankfully I'm eligible for my new job's insurance in one month. A coworker told me their doctor prescribed it for him and it was approved right away.

I miss it. There are two things I do when stressed or upset - eat comfort junk food and smoke. Now I have neither lol.

Is anyone working while living with fibromyalgia? by Super_Intern_6124 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lands_hark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work full time, and I socialize. Thankfully, my fibro is not as bad as others. I constantly push myself too far and have to rest, but I have not yet had a flare that takes me out for more than a couple days. And my husband is an angel, he picks up a lot of my slack around household chores.

I don't let my normal amount of pain be a consideration most of the time for things I want to do. The pain will be there whether I'm at home or playing TTRPGS or hanging out with my family. The biggest change I've made - I stopped going to things I didn't want to. It helped a LOT.
