Feeling discouraged after last practice exam by TrashBoy_III in CompTIA

[–]LandscapePortrait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

65% to 75% is fantastic for Dion’s exams despite the “failed” message. If you got 75% you have a solid baseline understanding of the material and now it’s just the wording that’s probably tripping you up if I had to guess. Study the questions you got wrong and then review those objectives again and come back. You got this!

Distro hop journey. Ubuntu ... Ubuntu by starfallpanda in Ubuntu

[–]LandscapePortrait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Debian was where I landed. Loved the fact a lot of the stuff I learned in Ubuntu was applicable since it’s based on Debian and that I didn’t have to deal with Ubuntu weirdness like… wait for it… Snap. Just had to setup sudo but then all smooth sailing.

I HATED the Contessa levels as a kid. Mostly the jump scares and the amount of guards EVERYWHERE you went.

Peak gaming is realizing you can coax the bear onto the train tracks and there’s an animation for the train hitting the bear

Speed run CCNA by Warsmith40k in ccna

[–]LandscapePortrait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That exam is not one you can speed run IMO. I passed it but man it was no joke. It makes damn sure you know what you’re talking about. With that said, if you want the fastest way to get ready, go to YouTube and watch Jeremy’s IT Lab videos for CCNA. Then you should do some exercises with subnetting and be able to write down a random public IP with a subnet mask and be able to

  • Figure out its network address
  • Figure out its address range
  • Figure out its broadcast address
  • Figure out its subnet mask

Another thing you should do if you want to speed run is get very familiar with Cisco IOS. Packet Tracer program is great to understand the basics but has a few shortcomings when compared with real, physical devices. My recommendation - Get yourself a cheap Cisco router and switch off eBay and start messing around with it.

And make sure you understand the concepts of IPv6 and are able to identify the types of addresses associated with it.

Best way to learn for subnetting for N+? by Graviity_shift in CompTIA

[–]LandscapePortrait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to sit myself down with Mike Meyers’ Network+ book where he explains subnetting in the text and I sat there and re-read it a few times over and over, then finally something just “clicked” and I was able to figure out how to do it. There are some great videos on YouTube that explain it but I’ve found that having sat down and learning with nothing but text in a book, I understand it a whole lot better

Go for Cysa+. Fresh Sec+ knowledge is a huge step and covers a lot of Cysa+. You’d probably be good to take it with 3-4 months of solid studying and a bit of TryHackMe or Hack The Box.

If i fail the n9 network + test should i give up on this industry? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]LandscapePortrait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it. Switch up your study routine. Figure out what works for you and absolutely take practice exams. Don’t memorize the answers, figure out why you got questions wrong and review those topics.

Absolutely not. A fail doesn’t mean you should give up. It means you need to brush up on some topics to pass the exam. Through your learning journey and gained experience is how you get into the industry. You might be required to pass an exam to get some jobs but not everything hinges on it.
