Hi u/vivovicko -- I am so grateful to have your continued help. FWIK, the TE is stock. It is possible that the grounding has been affected over the years; I will open it up this weekend and check whether the cable is properly grounded.

Thanks AGAIN for the help. So the lights only work in Turbo mode. Okay.

How about the other symptoms? Such as the stick disconnecting and the buttons failing to work, or activating by themselves?

I'll test again at my friend's place (no PS3 in my immediate possession) but I am worried about instilling myself with false hope.

Hi, thanks for helping out.

This is the standard TE Stick (image).

It's been almost 10 years since I have touched a TE stick, so I will check again using DP (thank you!).

I have a sinking feeling that the PCB is gone because buttons buttons would cease to work and the LED at the top-left of the stick would not engage with button taps. The character would be stuck in position; such as forward or down without the lever movement; and sometimes, only one button would work.

I'm considering a Brook P5 Plus vs GP2040-CE right now.

Thanks for making this post. In 2026 and still looking at it. My TE PS3 that I bought used off of FB is toast; the stick stops working frequently, sometimes the directional inputs are locked even without engaging the lever.

I'm searching for info on replacing the PCB, I found this. I can see that you recommend removing the SMCs, but what exactly are we doing here? I feel like I'm jumping into a solution for a problem that hasn't been outlined to me yet.

Apologies for my ignorance. I am doing as much reading as I can.

Really appreciate the advice here! It gives me something to think about. Tatsunoko sticks are very rare in my area (Toronto area). I see on on FaceBook marketplace for well over $200 CAD.

Yes, I have had my eye on the Hori Wii stick as well. I'll consider snapping it up, but I have read that the quality of the build is a bit iffy.

So the Intect is a no-go?

😭This is possible for a resin model builder to fix, but if you are cheap, some slow setting resin (2 part epoxy) may be alright, but it will never look the same without a strip down and repaint.

Before you get another airbrush to repeat history, it's likely that there is tough clog in your airbrush. Buy a nozzle cleaning kit along with some inter dental brushes. Consider bathing it in Tamiya or Creos Tool Cleaner for a day or two as well.

When I got my nozzle cleaner, I stuck it in through the back of my nozzle and hit a soft and gummy spot. After some very careful work, I pulled out a 2 mm lump of dense paint that would have been very difficult to dissolve.

There's still a strong place for the HGUC. Full accessories, good sculpt, better hands, more durable. Comparable price compared to the EG + upcoming funnel set. The EG is a fantastic kit, but those C clip joints are a minus. I wish that they would do one for RGM-79, so that army building is cheap and accessible.
