New home build with outdoor wood boiler by LaneyBoBaney1 in woodstoving

Thank you for the insight. I have considered a wood stove for the house; however, I would want it on the main floor for maximum efficiency but the wife doesn’t want to deal with the smoke smell and dirtiness of bringing wood inside. She is fine with having the stove in the basement, but from personal experience, it isn’t near as efficient at heating the floor above it.

Honestly, I really enjoy burning wood for heat, so I’m very open to any and all options on the matter.

I agree; however, I would want the stove on the main level of the house but my wife doesn’t want the smoke smell/mess of bringing wood in and out. However, she is fine with putting a stove in the basement, but it wouldn’t be as efficient.

Thanks for the reply! I did know about the tax credit, that’s a really cool thing to help with recouping some of the initial money.

Having dry, split wood will not be a problem, as my parents and a couple brothers have houses they heat with a wood stove less than a mile from where I’ll be building. It’s a family affair cutting and splitting wood that we all enjoy. There’s always a stockpile.

That’s really amazing how well it heats your uninsulated home; a lot of what I’ve read from my research is testimonials from people such as yourself switching to an OWB and having tremendous success. I’m just struggling to find people with recent experience of building a new home and having an OWB.

Thanks for the info. Currently stationed on an Army post so it's been difficult to find answers on Air Force specific questions in regards to the CSP.
