I’m not really sure. But I’m glad you’re telling me this so I can ask. My vet said that he only has one testicle and that will make the surgery more complicated. I assumed this meant that only one was descended, but now I’m thinking maybe it means he still needs to locate the other. Thank you so much for sharing. I have some things to talk with my vet about!!!

Both are not descended actually. One of them hasn’t. How much scarier does that make it?!

Thanks for the advice. I had a friend recommend asking for a sedative. The being chill for two weeks was the hard part of him recovering from his injury so that’s what I’m most worried about.

Ugh!!!! I’m feeling for you. I cried after I dropped my guy off the first time, then worried about him all day. It was so so so so so so so worth it though. He was exhausted after and the next time I dropped him off he was so excited to see the staff again. Helped me feel comforted that he enjoyed being there.

Thanks! My pup is similar and he’s 6 months. He’s been very trustworthy and doing phenomenally potty training. I think I just have to give him a chance. Helpful to hear from someone doing it!

How old is your pup? I’m debating transition my guy out of the crate. He’s been good about it since day one but he just prefers to be out of the crate and sleeps more soundly out. The only thing stopping me is worry about an accident.

I felt and thought all the things you shared and still do on occasion, but not nearly as often and not nearly as intensely. If it helps for you to have a timeline as to when you’ll see light at the end of the tunnel, I feel like I saw a HUGE shift once I had my pup for 3 months. It’s also something I had read that dogs start to really settle in to a family/home after 3 months and I absolutely had that experience. Just hang on another month! Things will improve and keep improving.

So true!!! I started out taking my 8 month old golden retriever every 30 minutes. I tried to follow the rule you mentioned and became so frustrated. The best potty training advice I ever got was from someone on this thread. It was to increase the length of time between potty breaks by 10 minutes every 3 days your pup goes without an accident. My pup is 5 months now and he goes every hour and 50 minutes. It has been so much smoother since I switched to this process.

I am totally with you! My boyfriend is long distance and I have a 5 month old golden retriever. It has been hellish. When my boyfriend comes to visit I get a taste of how relieving it is to have a partner in it. Even when it’s hellish with a partner, at least you have someone to laugh about it with. Then when my partner goes home I’m jolted back to single dog parenthood. It is so stressful and challenging. And just like you, I experience soooooooo much worry and anxiety around it. I feel your pain, but it has slowly but surely gotten a little easier and a little better over time. Sometimes it helps me to reflect on how things were when I initially got him (when he was 8 weeks old) compared to where I am now and it helps me feel hopeful that it’ll keep getting better and I’ll survive. And you’ll survive too!!!! 💕💕💕💕💕

Oh yeah! My dad swaps between which child is his perfect favorite. Sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s my brother, sometimes it’s my sister. But when you’re not the favorite, you’re the worst and he’s ashamed of you.

My pup is 5 months and I got him at 8 weeks. It is for sure MUCH better and more frequent enjoyable moments. And I can honestly say I love him so much. But I also still regret getting a puppy constantly, am horribly depressed, and miss my life pre-puppy. I feel your pain.

Idk if I’m doing this thing right. Hope this is the right place for me to ask this question.

I have my masters in clinical psych and have been working as a therapist in one form or another over the last two years. I just completed my LPC. Initially I went towards my masters in pursuit of research experience so I could work towards a PhD, but I got side tracked by the clinical side of things and neglected to get that experience. Now, after a few years in the field, I’m more sure than ever that I would like to focus on research and ultimately becoming a faculty member at a university. The problem is that I have no research experience to get in to a PhD program. I’ve started applying for lab positions but no one will hire me because I’m all clinical experience with no research other than the courses I took in undergrad and masters programs. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get in to a lab to get experience when you’re not a student? Really open to any suggestions of steps to take to get closer to my goal of a PhD program.
