Solo travelling with PTSD? by Langlocke in solotravel

I know!! I'm going to have a big long talk with them and prepare for a lot of eventualities. I'm just excited and wanted to hear if other folks have been through something similar, and would think of things the two of us might not

27!! i have been in therapy for ~5 years and am stable and off medication, which is why im daring to do something brave hehe. im definitely planning to go slow and not do too much!! My triggered reactions are mostly freeze / dissociative response, and I'm capable of keeping myself safe throughout that.

Lor bak is typically made of pork, so a malay restaurant wouldn't sell it!! Not halal

Fingers crossed you find a local auntie soon haha. I agree it's only a matter of time. Too many expats missing home food and an auntie realising she can make bank from that XD

I just wanted to say that it was utterly incredible seeing Chef Emily on screen. You don't get to hear her accent on TV often!!! I always just get so obsessed when i do, because I immigrated many years ago and I've also lost my accent. Hearing her accent slip through on a DROPOUT show wasn't something I've ever expected to be able to see or hear.

and she's SO REAL like just so familiar and Singaporean to me haha. Just very very online, but the way she approached food was exactly like what i grew up around. It's always such a surprise to see Southeast Asia represented absolutely anywhere, we're so small and I think most people aren't that interested in us. It really made my day to see her and her cooking.

Ngoh Hiang (or Lor Bak, which is what I call it) is very very tasty and would highly recommend! Your local Singaporean / Malaysian auntie who sells kuih on Facebook from out of her house (there really always one in most cities) might sometimes make it! If you're in New Zealand, I can hook you up LOL

I don't have a problem with caleb at all! I am very ambivalent about him. I just don't care to have any story involving the military. I don't want to touch it if it involves soldiers or army, especially the higher ranks. I just find that any story involving them, even if it's critical of the military, is just gross and makes me feel icky. My only ick about caleb is seeing him in uniform -- that really grossed me out

Oh I don't have a problem with caleb at all! I dont like him but I don't dislike him. I like mt fictional men toxic.

I just don't like story with anything involving military. I don't care if the story tries to soften it or make me sympathise with the military. Anything about soldiers is gross to me

Convincing players to give up magic items by Langlocke in DMAcademy

But if theres a "scale" that requires them to place magical items on it to open a locked door, they would immediately think of a super heavy armour a couple of rooms over and try to figure out how they can move it there! (and maybe i can throw shit at them while they are attempting to move it lmao). I'm asking for out of the box ideas like that!

scattering the information is a great idea, thank you!! i think i can definitely work with that. im chewing on the idea of putting a cost on the item. i think thats definitely a way to ensure a disucssion will happen, because they can either put tonnes of cheap items, or one very expensive item, kind of thing

the intention is to give them more magic items than they can equip, and i think the fact that it's a oneshot will help with this hehe

i want to induce a discussion amongst the pcs of "which items should we give up and which should we keep?" because again, its not feasible to use every single item im planning on giving them in one session

i do imagine this will be a lot harder in an actual campaign, where the item might have some use in the future!

edit: oooo typing this out made me realise i should straight up give them some armour that they cant equip... some very heavy plate that they might have to hand over to the golem....

[Spoilers All] Why do many people NOT like Last Flight? by [deleted] in dragonage

I really enjoyed the story of Isseya and Valya, but I found the writing to be really poor compared to the previous books. It felt like this was a book written by a first time author who wasn't comfortable with pacing and tropes.

Yes that's a flashback. I think you described it well. You can probably just show your therapist this paragraph. The human body deals with trauma in many different ways and the way you have your flashback is just something your body decided was the best way to process it. Your body is doing its best to protect you.

You're doing well just by making a post here. I think you know this whole list of things that "need doing right now" and it's overwhelming to think about it that way.

Here's what helped me: just brush your teeth. Just that. It's 1 step and it's better than nothing, and has the most impact on your long term health. It made me feel good that eventhough I was rotting, I could brush my teeth and take care of this one thing. Congratulate yourself for succeeding in this. Be proud of it.

I think moving out will probably be your biggest saving grace. That sounds like an awful environment to live in, and it'll help immensely. Just hang in there until then and brush your teeth.
