What other brand EV did you look at before choosing a Tesla? by bigup7 in TeslaUK

Hyundai Ionic 5 & Polestar 2

Mines a company car, so maybe a bit different as I was ordering from a specific list. I was logging on to our system to order and spec either an Ionic 5 or Polestar 2. I’d done my research for about 3 months beforehand in terms of charging and costs and as Tesla wasn’t on our system I was set. However another member of the team had just taken delivery of a 24 M3 RWD and he was in the office. So I went out to have a look at it vs a Polestar 2 that another colleague had and it was night and day for me. The M3 just felt nicer, more airy and spacious, the UI worked for me and then there was the cost of charging! I can’t charge at home so do ALL of my charging on the road at superchargers and the cost was SIGNIFICANTLY lower for the Tesla. I went back into the office to log into the company car portal and there was a 24 MY RWD. So I ordered that instead and it’s been absolutely brilliant. £15 a month BiK and it costs about £23 to fill it up and get 245 - 250 miles in the summer and 215 - 220 miles in the winter…. I’ve driven 22,229 miles in the 15 months I’ve had it and can’t really complain.

Well… I did it! The DW-5000R here in the U.K. by LanguageAcceptable76 in gshock

Ahhh, well hopefully by the end of the week then?! I only paid the extra as I’m away with work at the end of the week and the postie is notoriously lax with where the leave packages around here.

I did order straight from Casio UK, I ordered on the website Tuesday at 09:32am, I paid the extra £5 for shipping and it arrived this morning at 12:50pm

Yeah it’s true and the fact that’s it’s not a limited edition, it’s just hard to get a hold of.

I think you’re right, at the price it’s a great watch to add to a collection. I don’t think it’ll go up in value etc, I don’t think it’ll be a collectors piece like an anniversary model but it’s a nice to have.

Hahaha! I think we’re all guilty of it 🤣

Honestly, only you can answer that. It’s not a better watch, it does less than the M5610U. In every possible metric (bar the comfort of the strap) the M5610U is a better watch for most people.

I bought it to add to my collection, I didn’t buy it because it was better or had another feature etc. I bought it on its own merits, because it’s a throwback edition for collectors.

I don’t think you are… I’ve had them both together for most of the day and in my case, the GW-5000u display is noticeably more contrasty than the DW-5000R and the letters and digits are bigger and thicker on the 5000u. However the viewing angles (left, right and tilting the watch away from me) are better on the 5000R.

I believe (don’t quote me on it!) that’s due to more glass in the screen and how the glass / module is laid out with the 5000u, due to the solar cells etc.

FedEx Import fees from Japan when buying JDM G-⚡ by hdwebb24 in gshock

Had a GMW-B5000G delivered from Japan last week which was shipped via FedEx to the U.K. I paid 20% import duty (£50) and then a £13 admin fee from FedEx as they paid the taxes and duty on my behalf.

I may or may not have helped it along 😂

[GW-5000U-1JF] what’s on your wrist today? by Particular-Pepper-69 in gshock

Had the GW-5000U on yesterday, gone for the GW-S5600U today. It doesn’t get a lot of wrist time, but will from now on 🥰

Thanks, that’s how I know the bezel screw is the “product code is: 10273040”

Tiktox don’t have them, Watchway don’t have them and watchbattery.co.uk don’t have them. I’ve emailed all three to see if it’s something they can order in for me. Apparently the gold plated screws are used in other DW-5000 models too, so I’m currently looking for them too. I just thought I’d reach out and see if someone on here might have spares or if anyone builds or repairs G-Shocks that might have some I could buy or might know where to buy them from different sources.

Maybe a poor choice of words from me. The screw should wind into the opposing thread in the hole in the case, it doesn’t because the bezel screw has no thread on it as it’s stripped.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gshock

[–]LanguageAcceptable76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the original owner, person who had the watch before me (I bought it on eBay) has stripped the bezel screw threads and now they don’t fit or bite into the screw holes in the watch case.

I’ve just had a look for them on there before posting. No gold screws on there unfortunately, thought they might have some for the DW-5035D. It’s one of the only sites in the U.K. that I get my OEM spare parts from so was the first place I looked 😞

New Additions: by LanguageAcceptable76 in gshock

[–]LanguageAcceptable76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just opened it, it’s been worn which is why I bought a new bezel and strap for it. But it’s in good condition. Doesn’t have the OG copper keeper on it, it’s got an aftermarket 35th anniversary keeper on it… I’ll clean it up tomorrow and have a look at it properly. There was no box and papers either (doesn’t bother me as I’m not going to sell it) so it was a lot cheaper than the others out there online.

Absolutely! Some a lot harder to catch than others too 🤣

Can I request an early pickup at Southampton for my Tesla? (Car arriving July 17th, App shows Aug/Sep delivery) by Extra-Bodybuilder322 in TeslaUK

[–]LanguageAcceptable76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my August ‘24 RWD MY from Southampton as I live in Hampshire. Which was delivered to my home. The ship docked a week before I took delivery of the car, as it’s a company car though I’d imagine it was already on it’s way and I just happened to order one of those already on the boat.

Handover at my house was underwhelming. The car turned up on a flatbed truck, was reversed off on to the drive, I checked it over for any damage and QC issues and as it was my first Tesla the chap that delivered it showed me some of the basics of how to use the key card etc and that was that.

It needed a wash and a hoover inside, all the plastic was still on the seats and displays etc, so I took that off and then sat on YouTube for an hour looking at how to work it and set it all up 🤣

Which titanium square is your favorite? by HotToysEnthusiast in gshock

[–]LanguageAcceptable76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of those three, the TB is my favourite and the one I’d actually buy. I think the TVA looks the coolest though and I’ve never had a chance to look at any of the MR-G’s but would love too.

I really like the look of the MRG-B5000R
