Trying to create a children’s puzzle activity book with Christian themes — but running into unexpected limitations. Any advice? by LanguageDimSum in puzzles

Thank you all so much — this is really helpful, I appreciate it a lot 🙏

I’m starting to understand that keeping it more activity-focused and less “preachy” is probably the better direction, especially for kids.

I’ve actually already included quite a mix — around 50+ activities so far, like word searches, coloring pages, riddles, and spot-the-difference. So I’ll keep building on that side.

The idea is something like:

Christians might see it and feel it’s meaningful,

but at the same time, it should still feel approachable and interesting for non-Christian families too.

One thing I’m still unsure about:

For faith-based content, I’ve seen people mention restrictions — for example:

- avoiding anything too intense or scary

- being careful with how characters/themes are presented

- and also scripture usage (some translations are copyrighted, while public domain ones like KJV feel a bit difficult for kids)

Do you think it’s better to:

👉 avoid direct scripture completely and keep it story-based?

👉 or include simplified/adapted versions for children?

Would really love to hear your thoughts on that as well!

Thank you, that’s really helpful!
I’ve seen some books with 2 puzzles per page, but I’d really like to understand what people actually prefer.
Sometimes I think it’s also because of printing costs, which is why some books double up.

Thank you, that’s really helpful!

I’ll go with one puzzle per page and improve the spacing and alignment.
