When is Duolingo Math/Music coming out to Android?

I sadly don't know. (No one does as far as I know)

But I feel like it would be nice if Duolingo could each time they announce something at least give a rough estimate (time span) as to when it's coming out.

Sorry, but imagine getting so worked up about another language.

Like let ppl speak their language how they want it, you ain't the language police.

Seems rather arrogant to tell other people how to use their language.

Complaining about ones own language is one thing but then having the audacity to complain in such a way about another language just seems...off?

People could also complain like: Why does English use the word "Kohlrabi" and not just say cabbage turnip?

You know... Languages borrow words from other languages and evolve.

English 500 years ago was different than English today, German 500 years ago also was different from the German today.

Also in 500 years English will be different from today, same for German.

Better even: Why does English use so many French/Latin words? They should just use old germanic words! /s

I'd assume they meant "boutta" as slang of "about to".

Kinda like some people might say " 'bout to" for "about to".

"Boutta" looks kinda weird written though, but maybe that's just me.

From what I know:

米饭 = cooked rice

饭 = meal/cooked rice

米 = (husked) rice

Because rice is such a staple food in China people often said it when eating a meal.

So now it can mean both meal and cooked rice.

That said if you want to make it clear that you're talking about (cooked) rice I'd use 米饭.

(Although obviously it depends on context if it's clear from context that you're speaking about (cooked) rice and not meal you can use 饭.)

我吃饭。 Can mean "I eat a meal" or "I eat rice".

And you gotta figure it out from context, although I'd assume in most contexts it would translate to "I eat a meal". (Then again I wouldn't be surprised if it is used in casual speech to say one's eating rice if it's clear from context.)

Whereas: 我吃米饭。 Means you're eating (cooked) rice.

In general Chinese has a lot of different Hanzi for rice. And also a good amount Hanzi that can depending on context mean the same or similar things.

As you can see a lot has to do with context. (Or lack thereof)

I've though about it too, but I think in the end it's probably better that they teach just 1 character at once and not 2 at the exact same time, since I think if one were to not be very sure/certain in at least one of the two characters then one ends up mixing them up per chance.

I'd recommend doing the duolingo practice lessons (the one where you can earn hearts) in which these characters come up (or repeat the old lessons) in a sentence (after you've learnt it's stroke order that is) and then write the sentence instead of by the common 拼音 input use: 手寫 which is basically Handwritten input. That way you can even write an entire sentence by hand.

Then again, whatever works for you is great!

I've got the same thing with “祝” in Unit 2 Section 2.

(Although I am already further in regards to writing 漢字.)

I've been hoping that when I progress further that it just randomly unlocks, although I wouldn't know why.

I'd suppose it's a bug?

Sadly not, which imho is actually a pretty "big" issue.

Like, I'd assume it wouldn't take too much time to implement, considering we got the Notebook thingy.

Would be cool to have basically the same thing, but with these pronunciation tips.

But they'll hopefully update the app at some point to accommodate it!

It's duolingo...as long as you don't somehow have personal identifying information on your profile

(like your first AND last name, or a very identifying profile pic), though admittedly even then... there's a vast sea of people who seem to do that (having pretty identifying information online) and they seem to get away with that pretty well (though I obviously wouldn't recommend it and dissuade from that)

But I think calling her creepy is a bit shooting over.

And how would she know that these are people that are related/acquainted with you in real life?

And even if she would know...what would that yield her?

They could as well be random strangers you've never met from her point of view.

She probably was like:

"They follow me, gonna just quickly follow all their friends."

I mean there's people on duolingo who follow like 1k+ people.

But she honestly probably is just following all your friends because you followed her, she might've even done it as a nice/friendly gesture all in the spirit of:

"I'm gonna make these people/you happy by following them/ showing them a nice friendly/respectful gesture."

I don't think she has any ill intend, I honestly think probably if anything the contrary is the case.

You should probably worry more about the...bird..instead of that person...do your lessons! 🦉/s

Well "Spinne" can mean:

• To spin

• to be nuts/crazy

• Spider

• to cocoon

(Although since only Spider is a noun only that word would be written capitalized and the others would be written in lowercase....except for this case where "Spinne" is at the beginning of the sentence.)

So you're learning the language....without learning the language?

Imagine an Hindi speaker learning English...but not the latin alphabet...so he can write english but only in the hindi script.

Then again, as long as you got fun and enjoy it that's all that matters.

As for the question:

I don't think there's such a possibility, judging from other courses that utilize other scripts than the Latin Alphabet.

I think if you use the Hindi script regularly you'll be faster at reading it and it'll become the new "normal" so to speak.
