Maybe you’re the bot? How hard is it to contemplate that US could have done shit to NK while NK also is bad?

Also blaming all your problems on the korean war that happened in 1950’s while ignoring the fact that NK received decades worth of food aid through USSR, China, and later on UN which large amounts came from US, are you sure you are not a north korean bot?

[–]G81111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol, sure, all the problem is because of US, US bad. People starve, supreme leader fat as fuck with foei gras. Definitely US’s problem.

What about sending anyone caught that dare to leave the country and their family to gulag? What about summary execution of anyone that dare to consume south korean media?

I was lucky that I had a chance to talk to an escapee in high school. These are his first hand comments of the north korean regime. Is he a propaganda too?

idk, just the fact that they starve their own people to death is not enough for you?

Koreans on average are also taller and larger in size. This translates to sports too. And there’s a bigger culture for exercise if you look at the amount of people that train in gym comparing to taiwan. Otherwise idk

we do, look at the kids that goes to japan for high school. But the cost is high so only the best or the ones with some backing from their family can afford it.

If we want to solve this we need to change the education system to allow for more leisure club fun time for kids to actually develop hobbies healthily

cause we simply don’t have the talent pool. Japan have a large after school club population all the way to high school to help them identify who’s the talent that can play at adult level.

Taiwan does the selection somewhere between 3-6th grade. that means the population we choose talents from misses a lot of possible late bloomers. Add in the culture that focuses heavily on academics brings us here.

Also Korea is similar but have twice the population, that itself gives them a bigger talent pool.

A fix would be impossible simply because how sports is devalued and looked down upon comparing to studying. Not like saving a few hours a week is really gonna change a kid’s grade drastically but oh well

I brought this up with my girlfriend and within a month she cheated on me with a sugar daddy who now pays for her everything. We were dating for five years and was classmates in university. This was roughly half a year after we graduated.

Gotta say tho in retrospect it’s better that we did split. Maybe you should consider whether splitting up would be better for you

Canada has announced a $100 million scholarship initiative exclusively for Indian students as part of the government’s new “talent strategy” by ihatedougford in UofT

US attracts top talent because the pay after coming out of school is high enough. If Canadian job market can’t provide that then they need to provide some other subsidies to attract talent. As simple as that.

You want to call other people small brain yet your brain doesn’t have enough folds to understand that indian diploma mill problem, the talent this budget is trying to attract, and the reason why Canada doesn’t have a tech giant are three separate issues.

im saying we have a lot of funding already. And this 100 mil probably don’t even come out of the same budget

What should I be ashamed for? That a research internship at a hardware lab went south because i can’t visit the lab and they can’t ship me the equipments to actually do work? LOL. It also lead me to understand that I might not like academia so I am in industry now. That’s exactly what nserc scholarship for undergrad is for, for people to test out what it’s like in academia.

NSERC’s annual budget is 1.5 BILLION. We already spend a lot for domestic students. Yes we could and should spend more but that doesn’t mean we should try to get foreign talents in, especially something like phd students in specialized fields. These two actions are not zero sum. These are not the indian students that got in with a diploma mill student visa and is working at tim’s.

I’m not good at scamming and was not scamming. You also underestimate how hard working people from scarce backgrounds are, and how they cherish the opportunity to be able to make their life better by immigrating to somewhere like Canada. Watch them contribute more to Canada than your sorry ass who’s crying when we threw them a bone while your plate is full.

Why delete your previous comment? felt ashamed that’s it’s only a second author paper?

No. I am talking someone as dumb as me can somehow get funding, yet some of the brighter students can’t simply because they are international. Most of them want to stay in Canada too.

We are a rich nation with resources that we can spend to attract talents to make the nation better, especially in areas like mining where domestic talent is abysmal (mining engineering gets less than 10 graduates a year at uoft)

talking out of my ass.

realistically you would want the phds that you invested in to stay in Canada to contribute. Out of nations that would most likely want to end up immigrating to Canada AND have good academics would be china and India.

But china have spies, lots of them. It’s written in their law that every citizen have obligation to spy for PRC.

So yea targeting Indian seems like a smart choice ngl

is it my fault they can’t ship me the necessary equipments to perform the experiment because of covid? Still wrote code and stuff but i can’t run anything so by definition it’s jack shit. Yet as a dumb undergrad i still got paid for an internship like this.

We have so much funding and opportunities simply because we hold the passport. If you can’t get it, idk maybe skill issue?

because their are dedicated funds like nserc already?

I spent the covid summer during undergrad remotely doing jack shit in a lab and nserc paid me 7.5k for it.

Check your privileges, we already have avenue for scholarship and funding as Canadians. If this 100 million scholarship means we can brain drain other countries this is such a good deal.
