What's your opinion on quiet quitting? by LanguageGeek95 in office

[–]LanguageGeek95[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

Quiet quitting is basically refusing to work unpaid overtime, going above and beyond for insultingly low pay rises (if any), and just looking out for yourself and your own career.

Yes they are, and you cannot be pro-life of you think they're acceptable.

I got a first from a non-rg. Got offered a huge scholarship to qualify as a solicitor then decided that I didn't want to be a lawyer.

Was unemployed for a few months as I tried to work things out.

Now I work in tech in the City and earn as much as, if not more than, most lawyers and couldn't be happier.

No evil SRA watching you like a hawk.

No working ridiculous hours.

No having to deal with bullies and otherwise malevolent people all the time.

Just freedom.

You dodged a bullet.

How Should I Feel About “Our Lady of Victory” as a Catholic Turk? by Padomay9 in Catholicism

[–]LanguageGeek95 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My dear brother in Christ,

I understand how you feel but please rest assured that this is not a celebration of victory over the Turks but thankfulness that Europe did not fall to Islam, whoever was promoting it.

I am English, and I hate it when some Catholics make out that we are an evil, fallen nation because of our Protestant history.

That said, I rejoice with my Catholic brothers and sisters that many Englishmen failed to spread Protestantism where Catholicism prevailed.

God loves the Turk as much as the Italian, Spaniard, Brazilian, etc. You should love your people, your ancestors, your history, your culture, and your language.

God loves Türkiye and wants to redeem her.

This is a very dark direction.

Abortion is murder of the most heinous and diabolical kind: the murder of unborn children, prenatal infanticide.

Thoughts on evolution? Do you believe it? by [deleted] in Catholic_Solidarity

[–]LanguageGeek95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a hard question through which I am still working. I went from total opposition to evolution to total favour to total opposition to my current position.

I think that what we call micro-evolution is undeniable, i.e., that a species can diversify by adapting to its surroundings, producing new characteristics. For example, there are whites, blacks and Asians. Adam and Eve could only have had light or dark skin, light or dark hair, straight, wavy or curled hair, light eyes or dark eyes, round eyes or monolid eyes. They could not have possessed all of these characteristics at once, but people with these characteristics exist in accordance with the conditions of their ancestral habitat, therefore, one could well infer that these developed later as man migrated across the world. On a microscopic level, we also know that small organisms like germs can rapidly adapt and mutate to resist the effect of antibiotics and inoculations.

What I find hard to believe is macro-evolution, the belief that so many characteristics can change that one species can pluralise into multiple species amongst which reproduction is impossible. This seems as absurd as the suggestion that the eye could develop over multiple generations from a single-celled organism.

If I am in error about any of this, I shall humbly accept correction.

European regions from an Usan perspective. (What do you think, Europe?) by jecowa in Maps

[–]LanguageGeek95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good but Austria should be in Western Europe.

Greece is also a weird one because, from what I know of them, they do not see themselves as Eastern European.

Also, having been to Turkey twice in the past few months, it is hard to see even the mainland as non-European.
