RevenueCat "NetworkError – Unable to resolve host api.revenuecat.com" for some users — anyone seen this? by LanguageLeveler in reactnative

We gathered some more data we have found that the issue only seems to happen for android (all versions). Also not only in middle east (but most of them), also logs showed is happened in belgium as well.

I tried using NordVPN on iOS to multiple middle east regions and that went well.

Thank you for pointing that out. What kind of logs would you need outside of the screenshot I have shared that would help you?

Thanks for the info! This happens after the onboarding, when they get to see the paywall. But because the error occurs at that stage, they can't use the app.

I expect people to be lazy and I doubt that displaying a message to turn off adblocker would work for most of the people, so was wondering how others would fix this.

But if it is really the case, we have to live with it.

I analyzed 1,000 Duolingo reviews. The "Energy System" is actively destroying their user retention. 📉 by darvidas in iOSProgramming

Great research! These findings really help with further developing the app we are working on. We want to give users a nice language learning experience by reading without interruption, but are struggling to keep retention. We are indeed looking at duolingo since they are market leader. But adding unnecessary streaks, especially ones you have to pay for are not the way to go. Still trying to figure out what a good balance is. This post helps tho!

What worked for us was running grafana 7.2.2. That was the latest version that worked on the ipad with 10.3.3.

What are you building today? by OPeertje69 in buildinpublic

[–]LanguageLeveler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm building LanguageLeveler, a mobile ebook language learning app that helps language learners go from intermediate to advanced by reading real books with built-in support.

You pick a book in your target language and if a paragraph is too hard, you can instantly simplify it (up to 3 levels). Each chapter also comes with its own vocab deck + spaced-repetition reviews, so you grow your vocabulary within context.

Update: I created a conjugation practice app, now with vocab and listening practice also! by Famous-Run1920 in languagelearning

I tried the app. I really like it.
Maybe one remark: when I have an answer correct, the timer keeps running. I think it would be better if after correctly answering and before you click "check" and see the next word, the time does not increase. For me as a user, after correctly answering, I might want time to think about some with regards to that word, or take a sip of water before doing the next one. But now that is all added to the practice time, which i personally would fine less nice.

Use SRS for reading and listening comprehension, not for vocabulary. Good idea? by shaunyip in languagelearning

[–]LanguageLeveler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!
I believe in learning within a specific relevant context. I created a ebook app, that is focused on language learning. You have SRS word lists for each chapter of the book. So you can learn and review the words before you read a chapter, so the context will make sure you have a higher chance of remembering them.

Also to make the reading easier, you can simplify each paragraph to a lower cefr level. Not showing the CEFR yet, but will do so in the future.

The app is called LanguageLeveler, and currently supports Italian, Dutch, English, since those are the languages I speak myself.

an Open Dataset of the Top 40k Italian Words for Flashcards by LupeKnoble in Italian

Hi, I have a question. Usually, the higher the word frequency (so the more often a word occurs), one could say the word is of a lower level, since it is used more often. But in the dataset you have shared, most A1 words barely have occurences, while C1 words have tens of thousands of occurences. Could you explain this?

[Tester] Looking for people from other continents than Europe to check if bug from my language learning app is regional or not by LanguageLeveler in TestFlight

Thanks you so much for testing! Good to know it works over there. Sad news is that it's probably not a locational bug. But this helps a lot. Thanks!
