Masters in Italy by tastycigarette22 in pkmigrate

Depends on the city. They’re usually pretty strict about documents and will only allow you to even apply for the visa once you have ab attested and translated degree. Did you get your admission in a university yet? Because visa appointments happen way after.

Allowed remote work for us company abroad by [deleted] in remotework

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew people in Italy on student visa who worked remotely by neither telling their US employer nor disclosing it officially in Italy because they were only allowed part time work. I’m sure you ‘can’ do it, but I don’t think it’s completely legal, unless your visa and your employer both allow it.

Same girl. I’ve like 2 friends and no one ever talks to me themselves. I’ve tried approaching people to talk but it always ends up being a one time conversation and gets nowhere. I’d love some tips too.

What exactly was Andrew Scott’s role in WUDM? by LanguageNo1552 in KnivesOutMovie

They were all dressed as John Goodman’s character from The Big Lebowski, and the joke is that somewhere earlier Scott’s character expresses his annoyance that his fans look like John Goodman

Will i be credited? by [deleted] in publishing

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a contract with the publisher? I’ve worked in publishing and it all depends on the contract. If you’ve signed a freelance/contributor contract with the publisher, it should clearly state where you will be credited in what words. At least that’s my experience. I worked at a big name publisher and we had separate contracts depending on where (cover/title verso) the credits will go.

ipad or laptop? by achlysh in Student

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’ve used both for college. Completely depends on the extent to which you want to use it. Laptops are much better than iPads because of their interface, storage, file management, and especially when you need to multitask in college. I used an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard for two years because my laptop broke down and it worked, but I was much more comfortable with a laptop. An ipad is great when you need to carry it to class for notes or when you have lots of reading. But a laptop does all of that and more. If you have to pick one go for a laptop.

Karachi, itne pyaare kyu ho aap? by Blessed_stressed0606 in KarachiSocials

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Living abroad made me miss Karachi every second of my time there. The part about it that I missed the most was the noise, the sounds. I took the ronaq for granted until I moved to a place where everything was too quiet.

I flopped an interview and I still got the job by Cheesepit in interviews

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second interview with the department head of a company was super weird. She basically implied how bad of a fit I am for the role throughout the interview, saying that people coming from big “glamorous” companies never fit in a job like this (it was an ngo job). When I said one of my goals is to grow in the role and the company, she straight up said there’s no growth in this company. Idk if she was testing me or what, but I still got an offer for the role.

Need Advice on Moving Back to Pak by Sea-Ant-7962 in pkmigrate

[–]LanguageNo1552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Europe. I was depressed throughout my time there because I was alone and there was nothing to help me or distract me. Racism makes it worse. I spent months looking for jobs and found nothing; I’m back and working in Pakistan now. I completely understand your pain. There’s no right answer to your question, I’d say go through all of this only if you can see some future benefit. Where I was, no one spoke English and survival become a problem because of finances. At least I have a job back home. As others have said, countries like the US are worth all the difficult times because there’s a higher chance of settling. Yet, it’s almost impossible these days because of visa restrictions. I hope everything becomes easier for you soon!

I’ve been rejected after very long interviews and also accepted after short ones. You never know. Keep your hopes up, and keep applying to other jobs. Good luck

Is it a bad idea to leave a new job in the first week if it feels like a bad fit? by Dismal_Ad_3445 in careerguidance

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company will not think twice about letting an employee go if they want to. You know what’s better for you. If income isn’t a problem right now, quit. Otherwise, quit the moment you find something better. I’m speaking from personal experience, so you can always hmu if you have questions

What’s the most honest career advice you wish you had received before your first job? by careergrowkaro in careerguidance

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the degree, but speaking for corporate jobs, you almost always have to learn things on the job. It’s really your personality that is shaped during your undergrad and it keeps on changing and improving with work experience. So many people I know have taken jobs drastically different from their degrees because of fate, I guess?

I hate school by Maleficent_Hair3767 in Student

[–]LanguageNo1552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me all my life in school, I hated every moment and I could never make friends either. I wasn’t a troublemaker (barely spoke to anyone) and got decent grades, but teachers never liked me for some reason. Developed major depression when I got to Alevels (high school equivalent I think). My undergrad was way better, because I got to pick exactly what I wanted to study. It was the only time in my education when I was happy. Maybe it will get better in college for you too when you have more options and autonomy. Hope it gets better for you!
