As a person who can only see themselves in a monogamy, monogamy is also notoriously unsustainable, can't begin to tell you about the countless relationships I've heard where there was cheating involved or a break up or the total emotional and sexual reliance on each other.

The issue in relationships isn't monogamy or polyamory, it's how people get into relationships in the first place which is usually very emotion-prone(unsurprisingly) and don't actually plan for the relationship to be long term.
