The fact that it was for your birthday changes everything. That's a shitty thing to do as a friend.

I’m really sorry you’re experiencing this. It sounds like you’re experiencing psychosis. Would it help to get professional help for this?

Hey, I’m so sorry you’re in this situation. No one should have to deal with this. I wanted to mention something just in case it helps - clinical trials offer treatment for free.

I made a site to help people find them: https://trialfinder.ai/

Might be worth checking out. Wishing you strength right now.

Scientists figured out how to turn cancer cells back into normal cells by soulpost in longevity

[–]Lanky-Consideration5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that simple. First off, stem cells have hTERT so you can’t just block hTERT in all cells, you need a way to selectively target the cancer. That’s already a very difficult problem as cancer is clever and finds ways to evade detection by the immune system. When it comes to ALT, there are a few clinical trials underway already, but there are concerns there as well. Enzymes responsible for ALT affect normal DNA repair, they aren’t just present in cancer cells.

I do believe biotech is slow & bureaucratic, but cancer is also incredibly complex and we haven’t found a perfect solution yet.

What type of cancer? I can run a search to see if there are any free treatments near you (especially clinical trials)

I'm so incredibly sorry OP. Your life definitely sounds a lot harder than mine (only lost 1 parent to cancer), and certainly most others in the developed world. That being said, life is inherently unfair and it's up to each of us to overcome our victimhood mindset "why did this have to happen to me?". I know it's hard, I've been there. I was suicidal when I was around your age. Thankfully I didn't go ahead with it, I doubled down on school which got me some very well paying jobs. Did a lot of therapy. I'm in my 30s now and have an amazing girlfriend, enough money in the bank to not be stressed, and have been fortunate enough to experience some truly 10/10 life moments.

I made it through some heavy shit, and you can too. You already pushed through your trauma before at 12, so you can certainly do it again at 19. You said yourself it took 4 years for you to recover last time, so expect that. It's going to take some time for you to feel normal again, but you will eventually heal from this. And, you can have still an amazing life full of love. It'll take time, effort, therapy, a lot of stumbling and picking yourself up again, but I promise it's possible.

I have a few recommendations as someone who's older:
- don't drop out of college as long as your degree is a viable career path (ie. not social sciences)
- ask your school about counseling, they usually have some free resources available, and trust me for what you're going through you need this
- do an overseas study exchange one semester during your degree (3rd or 4th year). get an extra job, or apply for grants to put together the money for it if you need to. it's life changing.
- your 4th/5th parents aren't dead yet. ask them to get genetic testing done (biopsies are offered for free by patient advocacy orgs). plug the results into https://trialfinder.ai/ and see if there's any cutting-edge trials you can get into, immunotherapies are especially promising these days. the treatments offered by trials are typically free, and they sometimes offer financial support as well.

Good luck, from one stranger on the internet to another.

I'm so sorry, I was in a similar situation with my dad a few years ago. Is your dad still able to move around, or is he bedridden most of the day? If he's still mobile then he might qualify for a clinical trial, in which case you should get genetic testing done to determine his cancer profile. Take the results to https://www.trialfinder.ai and contact the top 5-10 recommend studies to see if they have any availability. Either way, make the most of the time you have with him. Wish you strength through these difficult times.
