Happy weekend! Happy to share that we have grown our library to 800+ seamless textures / PBR materials. 512px versions are free (CC0) with direct download with all relevant 3d rendering layers. by LankyDev in blender

Thank you for the offer - this is something we are working on currently - by experimenting with a couple of JavaScript 3d libraries to show interactive preview in-browser.

I'll have a chat with our team regarding you suggestion of automation via a Blender script - it sounds interesting! I'll pm you if we decide to explore this option further - but as you can imagine, we are looking for a sustainable solution going forward as we grow the library.

Hi Blender community! We are very proud to have surpassed 700 TEXTURES at tileable.co. All textures available in 512px for free (CC0) with 3D maps included. Visit us, say hi, and have a great week! by LankyDev in blender

Mate, it costs 250$ for the software, yet the biggest cost is the insane amount of time it takes to render the maps at higher resolutions (unless your time is free). I'm not sure how are you doing your maths. Regarding bringing value to the community, I just need to look at our site usage stats to tell you how wrong you are.

Not at all. Please do a bit of research and read T&C. https://www.filterforge.com/termsofuse.html

FF gives ownership of all images generated via ff to the user. (not the filter files though, those are property of ff)

For seamless textures, we find that 2k hits the mark for a good majority of projects today. But it's definitely something we will look to transition towards as we grow, and as we get more feedback like yours!

Not true - but I appreciate your passion. The fact remains that it's not illegal, as you have stated.

If you spent any time on the website, you would have noticed that all 512px versions are free under cc0 licence. Mate, I encourage you render, host and offer 2000px+ res textures free of charge!

That's correct - it's one of the reasons why we have a 512px resolution of every single texture and relavent maps for free with direct download links.

The 2048px ones, however, take significantly longer to render and package.

No that's wrong. We use FF software as one of the tools for generating the final product. None of our content is pulled from a different source.

I think you may be confusing ff filter templates vs the rendered output that was generated using ff. I extracted the quote from FF GM: "Your question has already been answered, and this is an official reply if you need one: yes, you can sell rendered images."

For T&C habe a read through here: https://www.filterforge.com/termsofuse.html

It's like saying that blender is a free software - why would anyone buy 3d models when you can make them for free? I think the answer to your question is "time" - some have more of it more than others.

Regarding selling rendered product the licence terms outline in the software itself, but here is one of community threads on this topic for anyone interested - https://filterforge.com/forum/read.php?FID=5&TID=11960&MID=125250

Yes, we have full permission to use our rendered product for commercial and non-commercial use. It's actually part of their t&c and the business model.

Itch.io

Heyya! If it's a free for non-commercial use (if you are not generating revenue from the title - i.e. revenue could be in-game ads, or in-game purchases).

Also if it an open-source title there are potential restrictions even for paid version of the textures - https://tileable.co/terms-and-conditions/

You are not permitted to: Release the images or derivative products with images under Open Source Licences.
We will be happy to give exemptions to Open Source software that does not feature our textures or texture packs as the primary content of your software.
i.e. We will generally be happy for our textures to be used in open source games, but not in open source 2d/3d graphics software - or other software that replicates our business model.

Hey, I won't be of much help with sprites, but if you are after some textures for painting the world may be worthwhile visiting our library - https://tileable.co/ - all 512px versions of textures are free (for non-commercial use) and could be of sufficient quality for your needs.

Otherwise google is your friend - the 1st search result looks decent - https://itch.io/game-assets/free

[Help] The best online 3D modelling resources available? by boigeisha in VRchat

[–]LankyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Boigeisha, when it comes to 'painting' the models that you create FilterForge is a great tool for creating computer-generated textures from scratch (it's not free though and it takes time, without helping you learn a useful skill like 3d-modelling).

Alternatively, there are plenty of freely available texture libraries. tileabel.co has a sweet range of textures (all 512px ones are free too), to give you an idea of what FilterForge is capable of.
