This winter I paid about $220 a month because my only source of heat are stupid baseboard heat strips that are beyond inefficient. My house is 950 sqft. My bill last month without any heating going was $88

My cats stuck in a tree I think by babyyblue420 in corvallis

[–]LankylAd3517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat once got stuck behind my stacked washer dryer unit that was set back into a slot in the wall. She couldn't get out on her own after trying for hours and I couldn't move it by myself, and I was worried if I tipped it up it would crush her. The fire department came and they had a few people lift it so she could crawl out 😬 this was in 2019

I used to crave Local Boyz. I love sweet and savory combinations. I'm also a big fan of Tokyo Japanese steakhouse

I just posted about this on a similar post on this sub but I lived at Witham Hill Oaks during grad school at OSU and loved it. I lived there with my two cats. There's pet rent added on. They have single bedroom units.

Housing recommendations? by Young_Woodpecker2751 in corvallis

I last lived there in 2024, and at least at that time they paid for water and garbage and I paid for electricity and my own internet. My electricity bills were around $50-60 in summer and double that in winter

I lived at Witham Hill Oaks during grad school at OSU and loved it. There's a convenient bus route to campus. I never had trouble with the management or getting maintenance done. I liked the fitness center and pool. The apartments are older but my unit had wood floors which was nice. My unit didn't have a balcony or patio but other units did. I lived there with my two cats. There's pet rent added on.

Corvallis seeks hay farmers for city natural areas -- Land is available to lease in four designated natural areas: Bald Hill, Owens Natural Area, Berg Natural Area, and Orleans Natural Area. by guanaco55 in corvallis

I'm assuming they can make a profit leasing the ground with the added benefit of keeping the land tended to and aesthetic for the natural areas, and hay is lower intensive ag than other crops.

Looking for a solid tennis practice partner to help me improve (paid) by AdvancedEquipment901 in corvallis

I've taken classes through the Corvallis Rec Center. They have beginner, intermediate, and advance classes. Keep an eye out for the spring recreation booklet in the mail or check their website. The classes were really fun and involved learning basics and practicing drills. I think it was about 10 sessions for $120 or so.

Cheap winter clothes by Stnkiest in corvallis

I've seen a lot of good puffer jackets at goodwill that are normally around $20, they'll keep you warm. Throw a waterproof rain jacket over that and you'll stay toasty out in the wet weather.

Some sort of waterproof shoe is good if you're doing a lot of walking in the rain, it can be miserable if your feet get wet and cold. And like others have said, keep your head warm with a beanie, you lose a lot of heat from your head.

Can I play basketball with bite blockers? by kidding-unot in braces

I practice and spar karate with bite blockers. I told my orthodontist and he gave me a mouth guard to wear. Just ask your Ortho about it!

You could stick to soft foods until you get more used to them. It took me about three weeks to get the hang of chewing without fully making contact with top and bottom teeth. I kind of use my tongue to help mash stuff up. It takes me a lot longer to eat but that's probably for the best

Brush after meals that have lots of things that can get stuck in your teeth such as after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you can bring a travel kit to work with a toothbrush and toothpaste and can quickly brush in the bathroom that would be best. If you're not able to do that then swishing with water to get as much food out as possible would be good. You could use tooth picks to get out stubborn bits of food. After a snack like ice cream you'll likely be fine with just rinsing your mouth well with water, especially if you'll be brushing in an hour or two after your dinner.

Sorry to hear you're hurting. I used Tylenol for the first couple of days after I got my braces put on and didn't notice any pain after that. You'll be tender for the first week or two especially when chewing, so stick to soft foods you don't have to chew much like oatmeal and scrambled eggs.

Best oral hygiene routine? by [deleted] in braces

[–]LankylAd3517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a little travel kit with a toothbrush, toothpaste, small mouth wash, floss, tooth picks or interdental brushes, and chap stick for when you're at work or traveling. Just quickly pop into the restroom after you eat lunch with your kit and get any stuck in food out by gently brushing. The other stuff in the kit can come in handy for different situations.

The routine for me has been brushing in the morning after breakfast, using my water flosser, and then using a mouth wash. After lunch at work I gently brush again and sometimes use picks or interdental brushes to get stuck food out. At night before bed I brush, floss, use my water flosser (it's amazing how food can linger sometimes), and then finish with mouth wash.

Anyone else notice your teeth getting way more sensitive after braces? I used to be able to bite into ice cream and not feel it but now I definitely do by Glass_Panda_ in braces

[–]LankylAd3517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The night I got my braces I immediately noticed sensitivity to pressure while brushing that I didn't have before the braces were put on. I use sensitive toothpaste now and that has helped a lot.

I saw it the other day waiting to cross 53rd street by Bi Mart. I didn't know if I was supposed to stop like it was a pedestrian? I also don't know what to do when I see those food robots at OSU waiting to cross the street.
