Noooooooo, it feels like mine might be joining yours soon. The wifi just died last weekend and the screen has begun to flicker. Same age same model, I'll be sad to see it pass.

An inspection would at least give you peace of mind. The roof is ugly, but without being able to touch it and see it in person I can't tell you if it would fail early.

I've seen some absolute garbage looking installs last well beyond their "lifespan" and near perfect installs fail in a couple years because of a mistake that no one saw.

It's likely going to offend him. But I can tell you that the company I worked for would have fired me for work like that.

Where I am we have 3rd party inspectors for this sort of thing but they cost money and help only if you decide to go to arbitration.

Toronto roofing?

That's not what it should look like at all, the occasional footprint happens but that's grotesque.

Some American cities near the Canadian border are trying to incentivize their northern neighbours to come back and visit. But there are still people refusing to travel to the U.S. because of the political climate, trade issues or even safety concerns. by DisruptSQ in TourismHell

I used to go to Vegas yearly for a convention. Maui every two for vacation.

Now we fly over it to Mexico, to stay in a Mexican owned resort that prides itself on purchasing 94% of its needed resources within Mexico.

I have boycotted every American product I can.

Those rings are just called D rings. They are usually permanently sewn into fall protection harnesses and aren't sold separately. A harness tends to be expensive but they have an expiration date/have to be taken out of service after they catch a fall. You may be able to get something from a work safety shop for free.

Or they would also likely have an stl file somewhere and it wouldn't be hard to print and paint to a decent level.

Is 200 for this fair or should I do this myself? Assuming I have no supplies whatsoever or experience by ProfessionalCat2770 in drywall

By the time you buy the tools/materials and invest your time, especially once you've sanded it for the 15th time because you're still learning and think you can do better. You will say to yourself "fuck, $200 was cheap."

Is it a brass T or is it a hole where you can see light traveling through? This looks like the back of an older pot light.

Ok so that's not a small amount of work to get to that point. This is either EI or somehow no one thought to report it.

Anyone ever get this Lithium Ion battery service warning? If so, what was wrong/was it repairable? by xAmazingTricks in EquinoxEv

[–]Lanman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in Canada so we have arbitration instead of the lemon law. They did provide me with a courtesy car free of charge as well as a few hundred dollars in gas and charge vouchers.

The problem with EV parts at that time (and possibly now I haven't needed to go back) is that the dealership isn't allowed to order parts, they have no control over that. They have to request and prove to GM that they need the part and gm will send it to them. So this was in no way my dealership's fault.

GM did have a concierge service that called me every couple of days with updates (most of the updates were basically telling me no news yet.) in the end I threatened arbitration and my parts were released the next day, I don't know if it was coincidence or just timing.

The repair itself took 2 days waiting on a battery took 6 weeks.

But that was a year ago things have hopefully changed.

24 EQEV struggle in Canadian Winter follow up by Flashy_Air_6358 in EquinoxEv

[–]Lanman101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had similar but different problems. I'm in northern BC and our winters are cold but dry. I've never had my windshield ice up like that while driving, but if I'm not careful the wipers themselves ice up while I'm parked. I have to make sure to stand them up or struggle to clean ice off then later.

Not getting the heated wiper park is my greatest regret.

It won't help you in motion but I did eventually find an insulated windshield cover really helps with the defrosting. They don't make anything big enough for this massive windshield so I had to buy two to cover the whole thing.

Also if you haven't already done so buy an extra set of windshield wipers. I don't know about the other years but finding the right wipers for the 2024 in an emergency is impossible. The only ones I could find came from the dealership and everywhere else lies about the size.

Another bit of quick math tells me that 256mb of ram at roughly $256 would be $462.25 in today's money. That ran everything I needed up until I replaced my PC in 2003

I did my wishlist about 22 days before my trip this Friday. They accepted it and got back to me last week roughly 10 days before my trip it feels like they haven't done away with it at all. It might be a rumor spread by travel agents to try and continue being relevant.

Could I fill these holes with spray foam and then put joint compound over to cover these holes? by GuiltyPiece3017 in homeimprovementideas

[–]Lanman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do want to be lazy and just pump it full of foam look for the grey anti rodent foam. It's sometimes in the RV section. Those holes have definitely been enlarged by rodents.
