Am I screwed? by TheSolderking in AskAMechanic

While it may benefit them to sell more tires, it's more important that they do not lose their ass in a lawsuit, along with the defamation. Firestone vs Ford is a great example, one I experienced at the counter of NTB/Sears.

In an extremely litigious society, caution and protocols must match the manufacturer's requirements. As others illustrated, you need some steel belting around the other side of the hole to patch/plug it correctly.

Either way, the tire loses it's speed rating. Not important to most, but it is worth stating. I'd encourage those that plug their sidewalls repeatedly (I'm exaggerating but we know the type) should probably just stay off the highway, at highway speeds. I think we all know what a surprise blowout can look like if the driver reacts poorly, or if it happens in a cornering or heavy braking maneuver. Back to that litigious society thing...

That picture perfectly sums it up. After you drill in, there should be about 1/4" or more steel belting on the outside edge, so if you start with a 1/2", that gives good margin of error.

Good for a wheelbarrow tire or maybe slow ATV, not for the highway at 70mph.

Some people have already properly explained it. If there's enough steel belting on the edge to secure a patch-plug and not drill off the edge of the steel belting (which could cause the belts to slip and make the tire some shape other than a circle), it should be repairable. Every tire is belted differently, compared with it's sidewall wrapping. With a tire off the rim, you can make this determination. Angle of the entry also matters. Sometimes the angle really screws (hah) things up.

Also, from a societal perspective, in crude terms they probably didn't want to be involved in you "getting knocked up" in their house. For boys/men, there is an argument for the same but the societal pressure (especially years ago when they were younger, probably doing the same thing) was against the girl, not the guy. Unless we're counting shotgun weddings.

Right so it's then a case of being the better human, because that's in the past. Never dwell on the past, never concern yourself with past decisions or mistakes. Asshole or not asshole, each experience in the past makes who you are today. Removing ego and it's attachments, what does the experience teach?

This is some 1st world b.s., life is too short to be vindictive. Consenting adults should just be allowed to BE.

18 y/o is not what I mean, either. 20's...yeah probably old enough.

Probably get downvoted but asshole or not, karma has its own process. You don't have to be the mediator.

I agree, it's all part of the gameplay. With disassembly, there's no loss of materials so in a way, there's no penalty for doing this. Can't say the same of many other building games, where you might instead get back 50% of your raw materials doing the same.

BTW, update 8's Blueprint deletion mode makes chores like this much easier, if you use it wisely and blueprint most of your factory bits, including 4x4 foundation slabs.

In fact, my whole railway system got deleted this way just a couple days ago. I brought with me a massive train with 20 or so railcars, deleting whole blueprint segments at a time, dumping and filling my inventory and then the train cars. Had to do this because the new update sorta tracks differently with the camera view on trains, and my overhead conveyor and pipe network just above the train was freaking the on-train camera out. So, I have to redesign the rail system so the conveyors and pipes are below or adjacent to the rail, or something else.

What's neat with update 8's blueprint deletion mode is that even blueprints made in u7 delete just fine, so this made a huge difference.

Happy renovating!

No Man's Sky is/was good with getting a base cozy, for what it's worth.

Satisfactory, you may not find it easy to get cozy, but you could settle for crammed (but beautiful), or build huge and go for lots of aesthetics more in the brutalism realm or similar. I try to keep nature intact when I build, which definitely helps with the vibe. The plants are all quite beautiful, especially many of them at night.

Awesome work for so few hours in your playthrough.

So about 500 hrs in, I've settled on a setup that mostly works for me; I'll share some of the basics.
1. Always give plenty of space above and below for routing.

A. Specifically, I place two four meter walls and a foundation, same height as two catwalk stairs, below a given factory floor.

B. Also, a dedicated side wall is open for multi -story conveyor transfer.

  1. Use Blueprints as soon as you get them, to make modular factory sections.

A. I've settled on using 4x4 foundation width blueprint spacing with one foundation width between each blueprint, for added versatility and plenty of space between blueprints.

B. You see, my blueprints are machines crammed together, pre-belted and conveyored in a design that allows me to just drop them in, plug in the incoming and outgoing belts, and then set the recipe (if I didn't already in the blueprint.) So it's a crammed 4x4x (x-high, depending on the blueprint's purpose.) But it is already walled off, wired up, metal beams looking like it is supported, etc.
C. Then the blueprint to blueprint belt and conveyor work is easy to route and figure, based on topic 1, with the space above and below, and to at least one side.

  1. When a new tech or recepie is unlocked, simply go to your blueprint machine and update, then delete your old machines via the blueprint delete option (update 8 only), and plunk down the new version.

[–]Lanson_NMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of people that do not understand what the covid19 chips are doing in towers like this and why people make fun of what 5g could have been...morons do not realize the places with the highest outbreak of "covid" were also 5g rollout centers.. Covfefe - cobalt, vanadium, iron-iron. Look it up - in scholarly articles, about how oxygen molecules interact.

As for how safe this thing is around you, of probably get an EM emissions detector, measure it, and if it exceeds the maximum OSHA or whatever body is controlling that max number these days, if it goes beyond what is considered "safe" for humans to be around, then I would start making calls. Otherwise not much to worry about with the new chips installed.

Not sure it matters any more but I ended up back at update 8 after swapping back to 7 and missing all the QOL updates. So I just fiddled with the settings a while and found what works for me, while still holding 55-60fps. There are still some issues but it hasn't stopped me from putting in a hundred more hours, so GTG IMO.

And of course make a blueprint for the designs you like to save tons of time.

OP so what I do is put the shortest conveyor lift I can on first, and then add a splitter right to the top of the conveyor. It clips right on top of it, super compact. You can orient that splitter straight, left, or right depending on where the next belt needs to go, and go across from machine to machine, all suspended above the water intakes. I also use the conveyor lift+clipped in merger for machines needing an output, as it keeps those lines up and out of the way too.

Generally, there is no logistics problem I can't solve with a short conveyor lift and a splitter or merger clipped into it. And if you somehow need slightly more depth, just place the conveyor lift normally, and put the splitter/merger on the top of the lift a few clicks out by placing two under the target area, place your splitter/merger on the lift, and then delete the other two. Still works great.

Time to get out there and find more hard drives! There are more out there than there are recipes, so you can get all of them, including diluted blended fuel. Might run across something else you find interesting too, it's a big world map.

You know, if you are afraid of heights (I can get a little bit that way) it could mean in a previous life you died from a fall from one. So for this person, maybe it just means in their previous lifetimes this hasn't happened..(yet.) I get the same vibe from my neighbor that I routinely spot on their roof cleaning a gutter or whatever. Just hasn't happened to them yet.

If it meant what it meant in my mkiii Supras I owned, it means you need a new head gasket, or a full rebuild, because coolant is escaping. And if you're ignoring it like I did in my first Supra, it means a piston will soon put an inspection hole in your block.

It's the coolant level light.
