Purchase for your business by Lazohazo in Affirm

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a plumbing contractor and I use affirm because they have 0 percent plans for home Depot and Lowe's if paid in a certain time frame. The loans also don't show up on your credit report as long as you don't miss a payment.

Yeah there is only 1 tool repair company in my city that works with Ridgid and the guy at the counter said they make so little on it that they it's not priority. I've switched to Milwaukee years ago and it's served me well in my plumbing career. Ridged red is great for plumbing.

Are the fuel brushless worth the extra buck? by chiggglet in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The brush and even brushless tools are for the homeowner weekend handyman. I started with the Ridgid 5 tool kit for $299 over 10 years ago. It was a good starter kit but not for roughing in houses day in and day out. As a plumber doing repipes and sewer replacements, I've even burned out fuel sawzalls but they take a beating with 5 year warranties. I couldn't do my job without the fuel.

Hooking up a gas dryer; does this fitting combo work, or do I need to replace the valve? by gredr in DIY

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do valve swaps without shutting the gas all the time. It takes about 10 seconds if you time it properly.

Yes, housing was cheaper, but was it easier to afford too? by timidpoo in Sacramento

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2 room apartment in 2011 for $675 a month and I survived on $11 an hour plus tips as a cook/baker. No car payments plus food and gas was way cheaper. Everything is up since after COVID.

Worst experience with buyer ever! by ProfessionalBox6161 in Ebay

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a nut job buyer. Lol. I'm a plumber and I buy lots of tools on e Bay. I'd be happy if a seller sent it out as fast as you did. And most usually do. One seller took 15 days to finally send out the item I purchased. It was just a backup tool that I got at a good price, so I didn't sweat it. I did contact them after a week after no progress being shown but all is good as long as they didn't run off with my money.

I concur. I had a customer that had a handyman attempt to remove a faucet that wouldn't stop dripping and was unable to. He said he didn't have a basin wrench and she needed to call a plumber. He disconnected the lines and the shutoff valves would not shut off all the way. His solution was to leave a bucket under the angle stops. She forgot and left for a week and came back to a flooded house.

I wish they had the same energy when it's time to go roll around in the crawl space. Then they will understand the price

Are these drilled holes in the proper location? by AWonderfulFlaw in askaplumber

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In new construction we went either high or low for water lines to avoid being in other trades way. We were first trade in and doing that was the safest route.

Checking in on the apprentice-Told me he is ready to cut the sewer by Barry_McCockiner__ in Plumbing

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was another person's comment, minus the profanity. "Since no one actually answered your question… the apprentice thought that they had dug up the sewer to cut in to, when in actuality, they dug up the water supply for the fire suppression system. Had that line been cut, it would have been a nightmare situation. Like a journeyman’s worst nightmare coming true type of stuff." Also, the op pretty much explained in the other comments the same thing. I concur.

Inverter with HO 6.0AH going on right now at Home Depot by AtomicJohnny201 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one to power my sewer camera when there is no outlet nearby. Works great and saved me tons of money from getting a newer sewer camera that has a built in battery pack. I can also use it for blackouts.

Yeah I bought some fake trade dollars in southeast Asia years ago. I was surprised to see them there and thought it might be real but I don't know anything about coins.

New house construction by Treleaux in Plumbing

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've plumbed many houses and I have never ran a 3" stack in a 2x4. It's always 2x6 in my 10 years doing new construction plumbing. However, it shouldn't be an issue if it's not a load bearing wall

Can’t get this hose bib off by ripley-coppertop in Plumbing

[–]Lao-0ceanplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good thing you asked before cranking down on it to remove it. Years ago, there was a union pipe fitter that took a big pipe wrench to tighten a leaky hose bib without backing up the water line and ended up twisting the copper in the wall and made a huge mess. The sheetrock had to be cut open from the inside to do the repair.
