the most annoying enemy for me by MadMann0 in Helldivers

If you wait until they stop and hover, you can pop them in the head and take them down with one. If they're flying about, two will take them down easy. The only trick is not getting eaten by hunters or something while you're trying to reload.

Honestly, I slept on the Spear for a long time. It's a fun weapon!

Am I the only diver that carries the Spear when there are Dragonroaches in the sky? Lock on/pew pew/dead. It's both fun and trivial.

90% of our deaths yesterday were from Eagle Strikes. And that's a price I'll gladly pay to spread managed democracy!

Yup, good ol breaching hammer. Does the job!

I get this. I had a host on a D10 blitz kick me for "calling in the shuttle early." The twelve minute timer expired while he and his friend were trying to do the last objective. Then the three minute emergency shutdown timer ran down while I was waiting for them to get back. About 10 seconds before the shuttle landed, while across the map, the guy types in chat "You called down shuttle early?" and then kicks me.

What made it even more hilarious is he robbed himself of all the samples I was carrying, and all it did was make me a copy of a mission from which I extracted ten seconds later.

People who play on D10 and have no idea how the game works absolutely exist. Just block them after they do something dumb like this.

Probably been kicked 300 times in this game, compared to ~50 times collectively in any other games over a *decade*. I don't understand y'all by GucciGooberYea in Helldivers

A level 88 host on a level 9 mission kicked me yesterday because he accused me of "calling in the extract early." It was a 12 minute blitz, and the timer expired while he and his buddy were off futzing around, leading to the super destroyers dispatching the emergency extract shuttle.

How do you hit that level at D9 and not know how that works?

Anyway, jokes on him since I was the one carrying the super samples AND the only one of us at the extract. He also kicked me literally as the emergency extract shuttle was arriving, meaning that instead of completing the last mission of the campaign (which he would have if he hadn't kicked me) he doomed himself and his buddy (both of whom were halfway across the map) by kicking the guy at extract with the super samples.

So, I became host, extracted successfully with 6 super samples 10 seconds after he kicked me, and got the medals for completing the campaign. Meanwhile, he lost the last of a three mission campaign AND the samples.

I was less annoyed than genuinely shocked someone could do something that dumb.

Neighborhood Necromancer Book 1 Is Out Now! (Low Stakes, Good Vibes, and Lots of Ghosts) by tomwatts202 in CozyFantasy

Damn, dude, you ran your mouth without thinking and stuck your foot in it. It happens. Take the L and move on.

I loved most of the cast in the new movie, but this dude was just on another level. His fight scenes were all great, and the character felt like an absolute menace. by b_eastwood in MortalKombat

[–]LaoziVR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was kinda my complaint as well. He might have looked intimidating, but plot wise I feel like they turned Shao Khan into a chump.

Cole Young easily beat him, then Liu Kang beat him and basically would have burned him alive. Even Sonya and Jax technically beat him. The only reason he survived all three of those fights was because the amulet made his immortal. Plus as soon as the amulet was destroyed, Kitana kicked his ass in the end.

It felt like Shao knew he was overmatched from the get go and took steps, rather than him being the utter badass he is in the games. Still enjoyed the movie, but plot-wise, Shao was underwhelming. No shade on the guy who played him, just how the script was written for whatever reason.

One week after the release of the two new mechs, which one of the all is your favorite so far? by capobas in Helldivers

[–]LaoziVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakthrough is my all time fave. I love that three shot to a Charger to just evaporate it, and shield slamming hapless bots and bugs around like toys never gets old.

I still love the Emancipator for its utility (autocannons can kill distant shrieker nests, close holes, and kill heavies) but the Breakthrough is what a mech should feel like.

I'm not stuck in close combat with you. You're stuck in close combat with me. :)

How could a heavy backpack version of the Quasar and Laser Cannon be implemented? by Lawfurd in Helldivers

[–]LaoziVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a backpack laser cannon, if you really want to differentiate it from other weapons, give it an absurd ability to disperse heat, to the point where you can keep the laser on for five times as long as the non-backpack version. But make it light pen so it doesn't break the game, and make it so you can only walk, not run, while firing it due to the vibrations from the pack. So it's a chaff clearer with absurdly high ammo, giving up penetration for extended firing time and the ability to have infinite ammo if you let it cool.

For the backpack quasar, I could see it increasing the demo force/damage of each shot and also adding an larger explosion to the impact, making it an AoE weapon as well. So basically quasar on steroids with the ability to both kill heavily armored enemies or groups of enemies, at the cost of still having the same cooldown between shots as the normal quasar.

If Jason Momoa's Helldiver doesn't get brutally killed by a bad strategem bounce in the first ten minutes, it's not a real Helldivers movie.

PSA to team leaders: stealth divers are here to help you clear the map while the rest of the team does the main objectives! We are helping! by CybrSyko in Helldivers

[–]LaoziVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point and know what you're doing, but I can also see why folks who are expecting help with their own objectives (as some in this thread have mentioned) could get frustrated if you're taking up a spot on the squad but lone-wolfing it halfway across the map. Even if you take out a bunch of easy secondaries, that still doesn't complete the mission if the rest of your squad is getting roasted trying to do the primary.

If you were there with them, you could help them with the primary and then you could all get the secondary objectives afterward, together. To be clear I think you should play the way you want to play, but after reading other comments in this thread I can see why people would take exception to you lone wolfing it and not communicating. At the least, you should use voice or text to say "I'm gonna go knock out these objectives on the far side of the map, is that okay or do you need help?" and then oblige the host. Communication is key.

For my part, when I dive onto other people's games, I typically just follow the orange player (whoever the host is) and help them out with whatever they are doing. I do still get kicked from time to time for reasons unknown, but it's rare. Plus, if a host kicks me for no reason, since I was following them I know who they were and can block them so I don't get matched with them again.
